Cold when leaving home, hot at midday and rain just when the route gets interesting. Three different scenarios in the same day that require equipment capable of adapting to each situation. SPIDI proposes to turn this problem around with Step-In Armora modular system that inverts the traditional concept of multi-layer equipment and allows you to combine different garments depending on the weather, the season or the type of driving.
A technology that finds in the Mission-V one of his best examples of versatility. The innovation is not only in incorporating or removing a thermal lining, but in offering greater freedom to configure the equipment. From everyday trips to multi-day trips, this philosophy allows you to use the garments separately or combine them when circumstances require it, without having to resort to different jackets.
Step-In Armor: always close to the body
SPIDI has decided to turn the traditional design of multi-layer jackets on its head. This is how Step-In Armor was born, a system developed by SPIDI Safety Lab. Instead of integrating the protections into the outer layer, the system places them close to the body using a light and ventilated Armor mesh inner jacket, which can be used independently when the heat hits.
The intermediate layer comes into play on it. soft shellelastic and comfortable, designed to provide warmth and also function as a casual garment. The set is completed with the Hard Shellan outer covering with H2OUT technologywaterproof, windproof and breathable, which comes into action when the weather gets complicated.
Up to six different configurations through a zipper system that allows compatible layers to be combined. The same equipment philosophy to face very different scenarios without filling the closet with jackets.
SPIDI Mission-V in detail
The SPIDI Mission-V takes this philosophy to the road. It comes as standard with an H2OUT outer layer and the Super Net inner mesh jacket, with CE class A certification and Warrior level 2 protections on shoulders and elbows. For those looking for extra security, it is also prepared to add optional back protectors and chest protections.
Its versatility goes even further thanks to compatibility with six other garments in the Step-In Armor system, including Tech Armor 2 and Base-1 Armorwhich allow you to create different configurations according to the needs of each route. From urban commuting to multi-day adventures, the Mission-V allows you to adapt to different conditions with the same outfit:
“The inner mesh when temperatures rise, the waterproof cover with a sealed zipper to deal with the rain and the possibility of adding an optional thermal layer. Its removable hood and the possibility of using only the outer cover allow you to continue enjoying the garment when you get off the bike”they explain from the brand. Available in mud, black and green colors, it has an official price of 549.90 euros.
SPIDI is already preparing new additions
The Mission-V is just a sample of the possibilities of this system. SPIDI will continue to expand its range with proposals such as Sport Shell H2OUTa waterproof, windproof and breathable outer shell, compatible with various protective clothing, and the Sports Jacketwhich combines this same cover with the Base-1 Armor included as standard.
Two alternatives that reinforce the modular nature of a technology with a long way to go. With Step-In Armor, SPIDI changes the rules of motorcycle equipment: there is no longer a need for a single layer to do it all. The protection remains next to the body, while the rest of the set responds to the demands of each route. The weather changes, the equipment adapts.
