The history of Galbuseradriven by a two -stroke V8 engine, it is one of those that mixes in equal parts, iconicity, drama and ingenuity but, above anything else, a strong passion for the world of two wheels. And if not someone denies Mirco Snaidero the creator of this incredible replica. A project born from some photographs of the time and that has taken almost 11 years of his life, to be able to conclude.
GALBUSERA MARMA TOYO 500 V8: The wait has been worth it
Nine decades have passed since Plinio Galbusera and Adolf Marama Toyo They conceived that first prototype of the Galbusera Maram 28 CV and a maximum speed of 150 km/h.
However, after the outbreak of World War II, and the subsequent death of Toyo in May 1946, while disputing a speed race in the trieste circuit, the project could not be completed. We do not know if it was the story behind the model or the fascinating of the whole, in itself that convinced Mirco Snaidero to try to execute a perfect replica of that galbusera Marama Toyo 500 V8 at the facilities of his workshop of Via Dai Faris in Mels, Italy.
That is now the least, taking into account the almost 11 years of his life that has led him to be able to build this special motorcycle in detail, guided by some of the photographs of the time that they came to be made of that initial prototype. In fact, this story keeps certain similarities with those of the Cagiva/Bimota V500 Strada Squalo Project work of an inveterate Scottish Lover of the Italian brand.
A motorcycle created from scratch inspired by one of the sketches that Tamburini recreated at the beginning of this century. Likewise, although the Galbusera is considered the only “in the world with a two -stroke engine and eight cylinders”, under this technical format the Peugeot 103 Diabolique, the wild cycling of 8 cylinders and 400 cc is also propelled.
Finally, and in relation to this fascinating replica of the iconic Marama Toyo 500 V8, these days, on the occasion of the Italian Bicycle Week 2025 in addition to the replica of the Italian mount itself, Franco Damianifrom the Motoclub Trieste, has also presented the book “On the tracks of Marama Toyo, mysteries discovered and the dream of Galbusera V8 – the missing motorcycle”.
Undoubtedly a final brooch to a unique and unrepeatable story that shows us how far the love for this two -wheeled world can go.
