The new Ducati Monster has been awarded the R prizeed Dot Design – Product Design 2026one of the most prestigious international awards in the world, dedicated to product design. Created in 1955, it is awarded each year by an independent jury of international experts, which recognizes products that stand out for their excellence in design, innovation, functionality and aesthetics.
The jury recognizes the fifth generation of the model presented in 1992, which reinterprets one of the references of the transalpine firm through a contemporary design language, while preserving its identity and the distinctive character that has brought it to this day, an unequivocal sign of its own philosophy.
Ducati Monster 2026: “Everything you need, nothing more”
This Red Dot Design Award – Product Design 2026 celebrates the latest evolution of a model that, since its debut in the early 1990s, has redefined the concept of a sports naked motorcycle through a simple formula recognizable by any fan: “Everything you need, nothing more”. An idea that has turned the Monster into one of the most emblematic motorcycles in the sector in these more than thirty years.
Presented in 2025, the new Monster appears sporty and intuitive: monocoque frame, Showa suspension, Brembo braking system and a complete electronic package with Riding Mode and 6-axis IMU, become its main presentation cards. For his part, the new V2 twin cylinder engine It is undoubtedly one of its technical and stylistic pillars.
Among the main technological features that make it up, the IVT variable distribution system stands out, capable of offering operation where smoothness at low revolutions, vigor at medium speeds and power at high revolutions become its hallmark. The final result is 111 HP of power at 9,000 rpm, delivering more than 80% of its maximum torque between 4,000 and 10,000 rpm.
Stylistic evolution faithful to its legacy
The Monster 2026, redesigned from the ground up, combines lightness and technology with an unmistakable aesthetic, reinterpreting the style of the first Monster in a modern key. To do this, it recovers the elements that have defined its identity from the beginning: the front headlight framed by the shoulders of the bison-shaped tank, the one-piece seat and the short, light rear part.
Likewise, the cover of the side panels connects to the seat, which is narrower and 5 mm lower (815 mm in total) to facilitate placing the feet on the ground, and diverts hot air from the radiator outwards, improving thermal comfort. At the bottom of the cover, the Ducati shield is flanked by the coordinates of the historic Borgo Panigale factory.
It is precisely the result of this stylistic evolution, faithful to its identity, that has conquered the jury of the Red Dot Design award. With the award given to the Monster, Ducati continues its long tradition of success at the Red Dot awards, which over the years have also awarded the 1199 Panigale (2013), the XDiavel S (2016), the Diavel 1260 (2019) and, most recently, the Diavel V4 (2024).
