This past Saturday, April 27, the International Motorcycle Federation and DORNA have presented, in a special press conference during the Estrella Galicia 0.0 Gran Premio de España, the FIM Intercontinental Games. The new championship will bring together drivers from all continents to duel at the end of this year.
To protect all these young promises, the organization has chosen SPIDI and XPDtwo brands that already dress World Cup drivers such as Manu González, Aron Canet, Joe Roberts, Albert Arenas or Iker Lecuona.
In this way, the Italian brand becomes de facto the sole supplier of equipment (boots, overalls and gloves) for all the drivers who will make up the grid of the FIM Intercontinental Games.
The high levels of quality and development of SPIDI are the result of having the Safety Labwhich has been working in competition for more than 4 decades and whose main objective is to offer maximum safety through innovation and adapting to the needs of the most demanding users.
Thus managing to develop the equipment that protects pilots from the Moto2 World Championship or WSBK. On this occasion SPIDI takes another step in its history by being part of these FIM Intercontinental Gamesboth in the Supersport category and in Supersport 300.
The FIM Intercontinental Games in detail
The FIM Intercontinental Games will be a biennial event whose first edition will take place at the emblematic Spanish circuit Jerez – Ángel Nieto on November 30 and December 1. The president of the FIM himself, Jorge Viegas, announced at a press conference that this new championship will bring together the six Continental Unions of the FIM (CONU), Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, Latin America and Oceania.
These will have to select four pilots, among whom there must be at least one woman, becoming an exceptional international platform for young and experienced pilots. SPIDI will be in charge of supplying gloves and overalls to all participants in these tests.
These suits will incorporate a category 1 electronic airbag designed by the brand itself and certified by the FIM. This will be essential for the Italian firm, since it will help it develop an advanced system that will be available to all users. In addition, these garments will be made with premium category leather and will comply with the same safety regulations as those of MotoGP.
This means that they will have approved level 2 protections on shoulders, elbows, hips, chest and back, and will also include sliders on elbows and knees. To all this will be added XPD boots for each participant. Each of the six Continental Unions of the FIM will have assigned colors and numbers, which they will wear both on their equipment and on the motorcycles.
Therefore, the suits and gloves that SPIDI will supply will be personalized with the colors of each team and the logos and numbers of the pilots, as will the XPD boots.
