The first preparation of the Honda CB1000F is a retro tribute to the ’80s

The new Honda CB1000F includes as standard the essence of a myth like the Honda CB750F, and seemed like the perfect motorcycle for lovers of neo-retro models. But you can always give it a twist, and that is just what Proto has done with the preparation of this “Bol d’Or 2”. Based on the CB1000F and inspired by the CB750F Integra from the 80s, they have created a piece that captures all the essence of the original model.

Today it may seem like a disproportionate fairing, but that is the essence of that motorcycle, which was one of the first sport tourers in the concept that we know them as today. In fact, the Honda CB1000F Bol D’Or 2 practically follows all the aesthetic details to the letter and with a medium degree of precision the painting details.

The aesthetics follow quite faithfully that of the original model

Logically, the motorcycle, as far as the technical part is concerned, has nothing to do with the original model. For example, the CB1000F has liquid cooling and a rear monoshock instead of the two that were standard on the CB750F. Of course, the wheels appear to be made of magnesium with that particular and characteristic touch, although it is only a finish.

Aesthetically, the Honda CB1000F Bol d’Or 2 is quite faithful to the original, but there are interesting mechanical changes

The changes in the preparation do not remain only in the aesthetic aspect, but also reach the mechanical part. Although the engine is still standard, there are noticeable changes, such as the carbon Akrapovic silencer. Although perhaps the brakes are the point where, curiously, the most effort has been put.

And we say curiously because in the ’80s, it was one of the parts that most needed improvement. We were in a time when motorcycles ran faster and faster and the stock brakes, like the tires, were not usually up to par with the rest of the set. That does not happen today, but even so, Proto has decided to equip this Honda CB1000F Bol D’Or 2 with Brembo 484 Cafe Racer calipers and Brembo T-Drive discs, as well as metal hoses with a quick disconnect system.

There is also another important change and that is that they have chosen to change the front suspension, discarding the inverted bar fork to install a telescopic one from Öhlins that recovers the essence of the original model. To these changes we must add other small details such as protectors, levers or the handlebar itself. Everything to achieve a unique preparation because, for now, there is no price or forecast.

Of course, Proto is considering different options and has asked its followers on social networks if they should offer it as a transformation kit or take care of making the complete motorcycle. What do you think?
