Javi Vega returns to the Addax Rally 2025, this time with the new Kove 800X Rally, the brand’s most off-road-oriented model in the Adventure range. After his victory in the previous edition with his younger sister, the Kove 450 Rally, the Spaniard will seek to revalidate the title in one of the most demanding events on the African calendar, thus reaffirming the alliance between the driver and the brand under his philosophy “Focus on Performance”.
Addax Rally 2025: Fire test for the new 800X Rally
The Addax Rally, which will be held from November 9 to 15 in Merzouga (Morocco)brings together some of the best drivers on the international scene on a 1,295 km route through tracks, canyons and dunes of the mythical Erg Chebbi. Vega will compete in the Race 3 category, reserved for maxitrail and twin-cylinder bikes, with the aim of testing the potential of the Kove 800X Rally in real competition conditions and against top-level rivals.
For the Chinese brand, this participation represents a test by fire and a development opportunity: each kilometer in the race is information that returns to the engineers, reinforcing the synergies between the competition and the final product. At the controls will be Javi Vega, Kove ambassador in Spain and reference of the national raid.
He has participated seven times in the Dakar Rally, where he has stood out in the category Original by Motulthe hardest and most unassisted modality. His sixth place in 2025 confirmed his talent, perseverance and resilience. The Madrid driver has made the adventurous spirit his personal hallmark: competing, pushing limits and demonstrating that passion can go as far as the mechanics allow.
His victory in the 2024 Addax Rally, also with Kove at the controls of the 450 Rally, consolidated that reputation and marked the beginning of a relationship that has taken the brand to new levels of visibility and prestige. Through his social networks, where he shares content on Instagram about his impressions of the Kove, Javi Vega commented after his first tests:
“I was surprised by how light the 800X Rally is and how well its suspension works; for the first time I feel like I can ride a trail bike and not have it ride me,” he explains. “It has brutal power, but above all, very balanced handling. It is a bike made to win, but also to enjoy.”
The new Kove 800X Rally in detail
Equipped with the liquid-cooled 799cc DOHC 8-valve parallel twin engine, the Kove 800X Rally offers a maximum power of 69.5 kW (94.5 HP) and a maximum torque of 79 Nm at 7,500 rpmproviding a powerful and progressive response that adapts to all types of driving conditions. This adaptability is benefited by its available driving modes: Sport, to achieve maximum mechanical response, and ECO, to optimize efficiency.
On the other hand, the use of high-performance components has favored weight reduction, such as the removable aluminum rear subframe, the competition-inspired Yuan suspensions; the brakes and tires with a greater off-road focus, or the absence of a carrier and rear footpegs.
All this lightening work allows us to reach a weight of only 157 kg empty and 176 kg in running orderwhich makes it the lightest and with the best weight-power ratio within the medium-high displacement trail bike segment. All of this is supported by a first-class cycle part, which highlights its integrated double-beam chassis made of high-strength steel.
This works in combination with a removable aluminum rear subframe. In addition, the model has an increased ground clearance of up to 293 mm. In the suspension section, the Kove 800X Rally uses a 49 mm inverted Yuan fork with a travel of 270 mm and a monoshock from the same brand anchored at the rear with a travel of 240 mm, both adjustable in preload, extension and compression.
The brake system of the Kove 800X Rally has also been adapted to the off-road approach, now featuring a 310 mm petal front disc with a two-piston Taisko caliper, which reduces weight compared to the double disc that equips the 800X PRO and better adapts to the demands of low-adhesion terrain. At the rear, we find a 240 mm disc with a single-piston caliper from the same manufacturer.
The driver will be able to configure the braking response, thanks to the ABS system that can be disconnected in three modes, which will allow him to have this help on both wheels, only on the front wheel, or disconnect it completely. Seeking superior performance off the asphalt, the Kove 800X Rally is equipped with spoked wheels and tube tires in dimensions 90/90 – R21 on the front wheel and 140/80 – R18 on the rear. Other relevant details of the model are, for example, a seat height of 895 mm from the ground, or a fuel tank with a capacity of 19 liters.
Finally, at the equipment level, the brand has taken extreme care of each of the details of the Kove 800X Rally with a single objective: to achieve the best dynamic behavior. Proof of this is the wide handlebar with machined aluminum seat posts and the footrests with removable rubber pads, offering a perfect posture for off-road riding, both sitting and standing.
Also notable are elements such as the 7″ TFT dashboard with optional connectivity, the charging socket with dual USB/USB-C port and its Full LED lighting system. Its adventurous approach is also evident in elements such as the side fenders, the aluminum skid plate or the raised front fender. All this for a final price of 10,699 euros.
