The preseason is over. In two weeks the real fire begins and will do it on the same asphalt in which, for two days, the MotoGP pilots have been working. Buriram is a very different track in regards to the needs that knows, but the final result has been the same: Ducati leading.
In this case, it has been Marc Márquez’s Ducati, which has been the fastest. Time has achieved it in the first session of the day, although his afternoon time has not been bad either. What is clear is that the Moto-Piloto team is effective and that, before starting the championship, Marc Márquez has already left his candidacy for the signed title.
It is not that the tests are an advance of what will happen during the season, but we are talking about a eight -time world champion, with an obvious purpose of returning to the top and in the second stage of their plan to achieve it. Once the championship starts, things can change, but except disaster Marc will be in front.
Who has also been very fast has been the other Márquez, Álex. It was already the fastest in Sepang and on the first day of Buriram, and its adaptation to the GP24 is being very effective. At the moment it is being tremendously effective. But in Buriram on a return there has been a lot of effectiveness. In fact, Marco Bezzecchi has taken the April to third position, leading the afternoon session and on a track that the Italian motorcycles suffered in the past.
It also attracts attention that KTM, at least with Pedro Acosta, manages to sneak among the best. The tonic of all brands with at least one motorcycle in the top 10 has also occurred on the last day of collective tests. Moreover, Acosta has been faster even than a Pecco Bagnaia that, as in other preseason, is not being especially fast or optimistic. The Italian is more to work in the shadow and kill the blow when the points are distributed. Is it this way this year?
The preseason tests have shown a lot of equality in times, also in Buriram
Perhaps one of the positive surprises of the season is the renewed competitiveness of Honda and Yamaha. Although Marc Mir has ended up halfway to Marc, Mir has finished sixth in the combined and second in the afternoon session. Obviously, all Honda’s problems will not have been solved from morning, but being in the top 10 and little by little closer to Top5 is a reality at least in preseason.
It should also be noted that Fabio Quartararo has put the Yamaha in the eighth position, and among the Japanese motorcycle sandwich we find a Franco Morbidelli that also seems in good shape. As for Quartararo and Yamaha’s competitiveness, the same is the same as with Honda, no one doubts that the step forward is real and what is missing is to quantify to what extent they have advanced, and that is something we will not know until several great prizes pass .

The show of the variety of brands is that they have been precisely KTM with Maverick Viñales and Yamaha with Jack Miller, who have managed to sneak among the 10 best on the latter day, but in turn between the time of Álex Márquez and the tenth sixth that Johann Zarco has occupied with his sling there are only eight tenths. Moreover, if we exclude Marc Márquez who has been slightly faster, Chantra is still in the process of learning, the rest of the grill is in a second and that is always good news.
Now we have to wait because the next test will already be with real fire in two weeks, when the MotoGP 2025 world championship finally starts.
