The launch in China of the QJMotor SRK 921 “Super9”. But, although this attractive sports car looks like a clone, the MV Agusta Superveloce 1000it’s actually much more complicated than that. Behind it there are synergies between companies that, without a doubt, are benefiting the Chinese industry in the medium term. In fact, they already count for their local market MV Agusta low cost and high dynamism china. Who gives more?
This is not the first time we have talked to you about this machine. In fact, she has been called with numerous adjectives, sometimes not very accurate, throughout the past year. But why is it not a mere superficial copy of a MV Agusta? And furthermore, why does it include similarities that extend throughout the machine? Well, in principle, the answer is simple. It is the result of a collaboration between M.V. and the parent company of QJMotor, Qianjiang.
The original agreement, which dates back to 2020, was reached between the then-CEO of MV Agusta, Timur Sardarovand Dongshao Guoof Qianjiang Motorlike a «long term partnership» who would see QJMotor distribute the Italian brand’s motorcycles in China, and both companies will work together on future models.
In principle they would include the M.V. cheaper ones made by Qianjangas well as the motorcycles of the brands Benelli and QJMotor built around the four-cylinder engine design of MV Agusta. This would give Qianjiang a fundamental advantage in the burgeoning market for larger displacement motorcycles in its local market.
This is the QJMotor SRK 921 “Super9”
Now, and as we are telling you, the company has launched in China the SRK 921a sports motorcycle equipped with the 921 cc four-cylinder engine block, manufactured under license from MV Agusta in that country. It also shares the chassis of the SRK 921 RRwhich is practically the same as that of the brutalwith the distinctive single-sided swingarm. This mechanic uses a configuration that goes back to the original engine of the MV Agusta F4. This design had already been used in the versions brutal 920, 990 and 1090before being replaced by the 998 cc in the current generation of the brutal 1000.
Regarding the design, while the SRK 921 RR adopts a more modern style, the Super9 takes clear visual references from the MV Agusta Superveloce 800 and 1000with details such as the side fins and the lower fairing that resemble the larger displacement model. The exhaust system, with four outlets on the right side, also recalls the design of the Superveloce 800.
The Super9 It was presented at the CIMA show in China and already has official approval in that country. The motorcycle offers a power of 127 hp at 10,000 rpm, a wheelbase of 1,425 mm and a curb weight of 208 kg, making it 7 kg lighter than the SRK 921 RR. We don’t forget about features like a fork Marzocchi adjustable brakes Brembo and the TFT color scoreboard with full connectivity.
Although the official price of the Super9the SRK 921 RRwhich shares many of its specifications, costs approximately 69,999 yuan (a little more than 9,000 euros). That is to say, its price in China will not clash too much with the figure we just told you about.
But, this doesn’t end here. As we have been able to know, QJMotor since it has received approval for another model with a four-cylinder engine, the SRK 700 RR680 cc. Based largely on the SRK 800 RRwhich currently competes in the World Supersport championship.
The SRK 700 RR features a smaller, but more powerful engine, with a maximum power of 100 HP. Despite the mechanical modifications, the chassis and suspension specifications would remain almost identical to those of the SRK 800 RR.
