Yamaha and Yard Built surprise us again with one of those projects that us textbook petrolheads are truly passionate about: «Back to the Paddock». To do this, they take advantage of the pull of the recently released
If just a few days ago we showed you the XSR900 GP that pays tribute to Randy Mamola in the best possible way, today we do the same with the second of these special preparations within the format «Back to the Paddock»focused on the iconic Yamaha motorcycle racers of the 80s and 90s.
«Back to the Paddock»: Remembering legends of the brand
Yamaha's Yard Built projects have served as inspiration and set new trends in the motorcycle sector, making their Yamaha feel like their own for every customer. After forging links with true stars in the world of customization, the project has presented, year after year, an incredible line of exclusive and dazzling Yard Built creations based on the range of Yamaha Sport Heritage models.
The launch of a model like this deserved a Yard Built project to match and that's how it was born «Back to the Paddock» based on designs inspired by the frames of pilots from several European countries. Because if there was one thing about this golden era of motorcycling, it was that each fan had their idol and hero on the track.
From this premise, Yamaha distributors themselves have chosen which design was most inspiring for their followers. The “base” for Back to the Paddock is the new XSR900 GP. A neo retro frame where its design uses the colors red, white and yellow, inspired by Wayne Rainey's Yamaha YZR500.
Spain is one of the countries in the world with the greatest motorcycling tradition. The era of the 80s and 90s was a time of great change, where motorcycling evolved, going from being practiced on urban circuits to professional circuits. The sport reached a new level and the drivers of the time became idols of the time and later legends that are still remembered today.
Pilots like Joan Garriga, Alberto Puig, Àlex Crivillé, among others, were the heroes of that time who piloted some of the most emblematic two-stroke Yamahas. But without a doubt, if one design stood out above all and later became a real success on the streets of our country, it was that of Joan Garriga.
With its distinctive blue, white and gold colors, this rider marked an era with his Yamaha and that motorcycle inspired one of the best-selling sports motorcycles of the time, the legendary TZR80 with a color combination inspired by the Yamaha competitions, which was the youthful dream of many racing fans.
From those memories that take us to a golden age of sport, this Yard Built Back to the PaddockIn collaboration with APEX Autocentera workshop specialized in vehicle vinyl, which has translated the design into a series unit of the XSR900 GP.
This creation, along with those presented by other countries, was shown for the first time at the event Wheels&Waves in Biarritz (France) last weekend and can be seen at different events throughout the year in Spain.
