They stop a driver in a control and the policeman tells him: “Good morning, please, the driving license”. To which the driver responds: “Don’t tell me you’ve missed it!”. Well, that is a joke, to which we have replaced the taco to be more elegant, but something similar has happened in France where an individual has been hunted driving without driving license.
It turns out that this pleasant subject was driving west of the department of Rhone, France, when they stopped him in a routine control to verify that the car he was driving did not last the technical inspection per day.
From there the problems began and that is that the next thing they found out of the pull was that he did not have the mandatory insurance per day. Come on, it circulated without insurance. But the most impressive came when checking this person’s driving license, when they discovered that permission had been removed in 1997.
That is, 28 years ago the police had taken the card because he was driving under the influence of alcohol, and the character had never taken it out again, but he had been driving all this time without being caught.
A striking but not unusual case, because the record in our neighboring country has a lady who in 2020 at 60 years was arrested for never having a card. In spite of this, he had been driving, so in the background this other individual is almost an amateur. After all, he did take it out and “only” has been circulating since they took it away.
Driving without a card is not a joke
Although we have faced the news with a casual tone, the truth is that driving without the corresponding card is not to take it to a joke. The risks facing a driver are high if he has an accident.
Unfortunately, as the DGT reports, we cannot say the same in case it is simply denounced. Summarizing a lot, if the license has never been removed, the fine can reach up to 500 euros and “prison sentences from 3 to 6 months, a fine of 12 to 24 months or work for the benefit of the community from 31 to 90 days.” If you had it, but it has expired, the fine is 200 euros. And if you have lost the points and have removed the card, the situation is similar to not having it.

In France, however, these things take them much more seriously and can carry up to 15,000 euros of sanction, confiscation of the vehicle, prohibition of driving motor vehicles and some more sanctions. In case of recidivism, sentences can reach 30,000 euros and up to 2 years in prison.
