On this side of the wall it is not easy to understand how the drivers face the Isle of Man TT. That is why the story told in the documentary “Faster Than Life” is even more impressive if possible. It is true that everyone who faces the mountain does so of their own free will, but that does not make examples like that of Dave Madsen-Mygdal any less fascinating.
And this documentary, of which we can now enjoy the trailer, tells part of the story of Dave, who is the most prolific driver in the history of the Isle of Man TT. He has participated in no more and no less than 149 TT races since he debuted in the Manx GP in 1982. It must be said that all these participations are divided between the TT and the Manx GP where he continues to participate.
But the documentary that has been produced by Felipe Costa and Chip Gulland. and which can now be enjoyed on pay-per-view on the Faster Than Life website, focuses on recent years and more specifically on the period between 2019 and 2022.
Just in between those two years, we had the two cancellations of the Isle of Man TT and the Manx GP due to Covid-19, which delayed the project that has finally seen the light, and in which you can accompany this legend of road racing at all times of the competition.
Faster Than Life counts more than a career, it counts a lifestyle
The story of Dave Madsen-Mygdal goes back a long way. He took over from his father, who competed in the TT in the 1950s. In 2013, Madsen-Mydgal celebrated his 100th race in the TT since his debut and, as is usual, the Briton has been alternating categories in the same year to add shares.
In fact, although he has never won the TT, he has succeeded in the Manx, where he has also been on the podium on several occasions. He even appears in a photo with a very young and slender John McGuinnes, who is now a veteran.
Without a doubt two legends of road racing and not only for the results, but for the passion they have been showing for decades.
