It seems that Honda has a launch date for its first electric scooter in India, the brand new Activate EVas confirmed by local media that have been closely following this issue for months. In addition, it is estimated that it will be launched on the market in early 2025, at which time we will have to keep an eye on Honda’s intentions and its possible commercialization in Europe.
The Japanese firm has reportedly increased its production capacity at two of its assembly lines located in the cities of Gujarat and Karnataka. This decision would be related to the increase in demand for the production of more units of both internal combustion and electric models. Reports issued from within Honda itself indicate that the new Activa EV will begin to be produced at the latter’s facilities at the end of the year.
Honda Activa EV 2025 coming to Europe?
With this outlook, Honda continues to approach its carbon neutrality goals set for 2050. It is also on track to have up to 10 two-wheeled models powered by electric energy within its current range of vehicles. Let us remember that the Honda EM-1 is the first of this saga. “EM” stands for “Electric Moped”, and it seems that it would be aimed at a young clientele looking for a simple, economical method of transport adapted to the new climatic needs of the planet, as the Japanese brand sees it.
Regarding Honda’s intentions with its range of electric models aimed at the Indian market, we already explained that the Japanese brand announced at the end of 2022 that it was preparing to launch its first EV moped for the Asian country. In this sense, Honda will have to fine-tune its plans to compete with other scooters of this type that are already on the local market.
Examples such as the Ola Electric S1 Pro or the Ather 450X Gen 3 show that there are already good options of this type in India. In fact, it is one of the domestic markets that is in full expansion. Other energy alternatives such as ethanol or CNG are also part of the strategic plans of the main brands that operate in the country.
In any case, Honda is very clear about the path to follow in this regard. And this involves achieving a growth rate of at least 15% compared to this year, 2025. To achieve its objectives, in terms of sales, it will have models such as the Activa EV that is the subject of these lines today, called internally by the brand itself under the acronym K4BA.
Among the doubts that arise is, of course, whether the golden wing brand will end up offering the Activa 2025 in the countries that make up the European Union.
Although we do not yet know the technical data surrounding the future Honda model, it is expected that it will have a average autonomy of around 100 kmand also have the option of integrating an interchangeable battery pack.
