This is the Apache RTX 2026, the motorcycle that shows where BMW is aiming

After being officially presented at the last Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, the new TVS Apache RTX 2026 is now a reality. In just a few weeks it will be available at the brand’s official Indian dealers, for an official starting price of 199,000 rupees, a little less than 2,000 euros at the exchange rate. A mount that undoubtedly represents a step forward for the brand, but also offers us a lot of information about the future “mini GS” from BMW.

Let us remember that both companies have had a collaboration agreement for several years, and that it will now materialize again in the form of a new model with the premiere of the long-awaited F 450 GS. In fact, it was recently confirmed that the German brand will delegate the manufacturing of its new medium-displacement ADV to its Indian partner, something, on the other hand, to be expected if we carefully analyze the international synergies of the two-wheeled sector.

TVS Apache RTX 2026 in detail

Focusing on the Apache RTX (Rally, Tourer, xtreme), this comes equipped with a DOHC single-cylinder engine, water-cooled and equipped with 4 cylinder head valves, with declared internal dimensions of 78 mm x 62.6 mm. The mechanics are associated with a six-speed gearbox equipped with a slipper clutch. As a result of this technical compendium we have at our disposal a final power of 36 HP at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 28.5 Nm at 7,000 revolutions.

For the cycle part, the brand uses a tubular steel chassis, which combines with a conventional swingarm made of aluminum. The suspensions are controlled by a 41 mm inverted fork, while a central monoshock is incorporated at the rear. Both elements are adjustable and offer a successful balance between comfort and resistance, offering the pilot up to 180 mm of travel on both axles.

In the braking section, this Apache RTX has a 320 mm disc at the front, with a radially anchored caliper, along with a second disc anchored to the rear wheel, in this case 240 mm in diameter and clamped by a floating caliper. The assembly rests on two alloy wheels, shod with tubeless tires 110/80 – 19 at the front and 150/70 – 17 at the rear. It is worth wondering if sooner or later the brand will end up offering a variant with radial tires, more focused on Offroad driving.

Other technical aspects to take into account would be, for example, a curb weight of 180 kilos, with a wheelbase of 1,430 mm and a seat height located 830 mm from the ground. Likewise, its fuel tank is capable of holding up to 12.5 liters of fuel. On the other hand, if we talk about equipment, the Apache RTX has everything necessary to offer a driving experience that lives up to expectations.

Within the standard equipment, the new TVS model includes, among others, double symmetrical class D LED headlights with exclusive DRLs, 5″ TFT screen with TVS SmartXonnect, split seat at two heights, rear rack, side bumper kit, switchable dual-channel ABS on the rear axle, TPMS and up to four driving modes: Tour, Rally, Urban and Rain. The electronic section also includes ABS Rally, Traction Control and Cruise Control.

In addition, from the controls we can remotely control the operation of a GoPro camera and as detailed in some local media, “the TVS SmartXonnect application adds more than 38 connection functions, including the location of the last parking space.”

Available in up to five color schemes, TVS has already opened the reservation period for its new Apache RTX. It is worth wondering if the model will reach European lands in the short or medium term, something that seems difficult considering that BMW Motorrad will launch its new F 450 GS on the market in just a few months. You know, it’s not good to “step on the hose between firefighters”…
