Balistron, a brand founded just a year ago in Türkiye, has unveiled one of its new models with which it intends to make itself noticed in the European market. We talk about the Sport TS16.12a sporty electric frame that combines a good appearance with a compendium of cutting-edge technological elements. However, beyond the relevance it may have within the EV segment, the Sport TS16.12 is making a lot of noise due to some key aspects of its design.
In some media they have already called it the “Fake Motorcycle” either ““The Motorcycle of Lies” and the reason is none other than to use, as a teaser, some typical accessories of combustion motorcycles. For example, an exhaust system, although in this case it is only there “as a bonus”. It also emits sound like a regular motorcycle, but through a pair of integrated speakers.
Balistron Sport TS16.12: A “very popular” premiere
It is indisputable that the new Sport TS16.12 has enough arguments to stand out within the category where it debuts. For example, using a hub motor 8000 Watts of power integrated into its rear single-sided swingarm. This works in coordination with a lithium-ion battery of 96 V and 120 Ah with 11.52 kWh capacity. As a result, the brand advertises up to 230 km of autonomy and a top speed of 130 km/h.
The chassis is supported by a suspension system with an inverted front fork and a rear monoshock. Braking is provided by a double 300 mm front disc and a third 240 mm disc acting on the rear axle. The 17” wheels are fitted with tires measuring 110/70 and 160/70, front and rear respectively. The latter show a design that reminds us of those fitted to MV Agusta frames.
It is nothing new that brands of Asian origin try to emulate the stylized figures of European motorcycles, especially those of brands such as Ducati or the aforementioned MV Agusta. Sometimes they even make a combination between Italy and Japan, such as the new Chinese brand Sukuli… In this case, the Balistron Sport TS16.12 follows those fashionable aesthetic slogans, but they also add non-functional elements to make them more credible .
Or so the brand’s R&D team has thought when equipping its new model with two Fake exhaust outlets or a pair of speakers through which the sound of a four-cylinder gasoline engine plays. One wonders at this point: does this position on the part of the brand make sense? To tell the truth, if we look at it objectively, there may be a more or less logical explanation for all of this.
The motorcycle, in general, is something with a passion that we do not find in other types of transportation. Brands know how difficult it is to try to convey this feeling and make the move go well. If we talk about electric motorcycles, it is clear that one of the main reasons why they do not end up coming together, especially when we talk about performance models, is precisely because of the absence of palpable sensations that their gasoline rivals do emit.
However, we do not believe that the solution is to recreate a series of special effects to try to simulate aspects as banal as sound, vibrations or the very smell that a standard mechanic produces.
We do not know if the Balistron Sport TS16.12 will end up being marketed with its decorative accessories, or if the brand will finally look for more coherent options to achieve its goal.
In any case, for more information about the model you can consult directly on its official website.
