Midal has recently presented the latest of his creations in society: Française. An exclusive and limited edition that the brand itself has described as its “contribution to French craftsmanship.” Clearly inspired by Café Racer and retro aesthetics, it combines classicism, luxury and passion for detail in each and every one of the angles that make it up.
Furthermore, as is customary for the French firm, only 5 copies of the model will be assembled at an astronomical final price.
Midal Française: The brand’s first café racer
In the final stages of last year, Midal announced the third evolution of its Type 1, of which only 20 examples will be manufactured. French luxury at a rate of 186,200 euros each and which have a remodeled front, as well as other finishing details including hand-painted threading on the chassis or renewed footrests.
Just as in previous versions, the brand offers us a wide portfolio of options with which to modify the motorcycle to taste. Before this, at the beginning of the now extinct year 2025, they reappeared with the Quintessence, the luxury ultra-limited edition of its already exclusive Type 1. On this occasion, the brand announced the manufacture of only three units for a value greater than 300,000 euros.
With the recent Française, Midal goes one step further in terms of design and innovation, as it becomes its first model with a marked café racer style. The name chosen to baptize its latest creation is pure internal vindication by the brand, highlighting the fact that both the design, development and manufacturing are entirely French.
On a technical level we are faced with the same platform that gives life to its range sisters. They feature the 1,036 cc boxer-type twin-cylinder engine, equipped with distinctive technical elements such as a transverse crankshaft inclined at 25°. As a result of this mechanical compendium, we obtain a final power of 100 HP at 8,200 rpm and 102 Nm of maximum torque at 5,500 revolutions.
Aesthetically and in terms of design and finishes, the Française includes CNC finishes everywhere that combine with the blue color that dominates both the upholstery of its single-seater seat and the side and top panels that shape its fuel tank. In fact, Midal represents the chromatic tones of the French flag on this element.
Also notable is the embossed engraving of the brand’s name on the upper part of the chassis, its single-seat rear tail or the small front windscreen. For their part, the mirrors are anchored in the characteristic place where they are usually installed in the models of the French firm. Other details, such as the totally curved front air intakes in front of the radiator, show us the level of manufacturing quality that this exotic limited series possesses.
So much so that, in order to get one of the 5 units of the Midal Française, we will have to pay no less than 340,000 euros. A price that increases compared to the rest of the brand’s creations and that once again highlights the level of exclusivity and iconicity that each and every one of them possesses.
