This is the trick you didn’t know to get a heavy motorcycle onto the stand without suffering

He center stand may seem like a secondary accessorybut on large motorcycles, especially on trails and models designed to travel loaded, it undoubtedly becomes a key tool. In fact, it facilitates parking, maintenance and provides stability in situations where the side leg can play tricks.

For years it was unusual due to its drawbacks (more weight and less ground clearance). But their advantages are clear. Just think of a loaded motorcycle, with a passenger and luggage, asphalt in poor condition, etc. The risk of the motorcycle ending up on the ground is not as rare as it seems. Hence today it is almost essential in many large models.

The problem is that not all users know use the center stand correctly. Therefore, placing a heavy motorcycle on the center stand should not be done based on strength, but rather on technique. When the movements are appropriate, the effort is minimal and the control is total.

This is how you put on the center stand of a motorcycle

To perform the maneuver correctly, always stand on the left side of the motorcycle. Hold the handlebar with your left hand and unfold the stand by pushing it down with your right foot until you feel that both legs rest firmly on the ground. This point is key: if they do not support equally, the bike will not climb stably.

Then stay very close to the motorcycle and press the easel down with your right foot, even supporting your full weight, while assisting the movement by gently pulling up from the passenger grab handle with your right hand. The motorcycle must climb practically vertically, without lateral movements.

It is essential to avoid pushing the motorcycle to one side during the maneuver. It is also not appropriate try to raise it only by pulling the handlebars. Yes, in addition to being tiring, it increases the risk of losing balance and the motorcycle ending up on the ground.

When the technique is correct, even a large, heavy bike climbs onto the center stand surprisingly smoothly. It is not a question of strength, but of knowing how to take advantage of the design of the support itself. Once mastered, the gesture becomes almost automatic.
