V-Strom 160 2025, a light trail for all terrains

It was in 2020 that we first heard of the possibility that Suzuki was working on a V-Strom 160. In those days, the image of a patent that the Japanese brand had recently registered was leaked. Developed by Haojue Suzuki Motorcycle Co., Ltd.a joint venture established by Haojue Holdings and Suzuki Motor Corporation, we are dealing with what is until now known in some Asian and South American countries as Haojue DL160.

That is to say, Suzuki has taken advantage of the existing Haojue model to give life to its new V-Strom 160, something that in recent years has occurred regularly within commercial alliances between Japanese and European brands with others of Chinese or Indian. Models like the TVS Apache RR 310 and the BMW G 310 RR are a good example of this.

Suzuki V-Strom 160 2025: simplicity and versatility with Offroad aptitudes

As we have recently learned, the launch of the new V-Strom 160 is initially designed to address the South American markets. The brand has chosen Colombia as the initial country to start this commercial journey. The new variant thus joins the already known V-Strom 250SX, V-Strom 650XT, V-Strom 800 and V-Strom 1050 that the brand already offers within Colombian borders.

Regarding the main characteristics that surround the new V-Strom 160, as in its “milk sister” the Haojue DL160, we find a single-cylinder engine of 162ccair-cooled and powered by an electronic fuel injection system. As a result we obtain a final power of 14.8 HP at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of maximum torque at 6,500 rpm. The mechanics are associated with a five-speed gearbox.

Other notable details of this V-Strom 160 are, for example, the use of 17” alloy wheels on both axles, suspensions signed by Kayaba, double braking discs, one per axle, or a dual-channel ABS system. With a declared weight of 148kgthe V-Strom 160 has a fuel tank capable of holding up to 13 liters of gasoline. As for equipment, Suzuki has provided it with a circular LCD instrument panel, LED lighting, a USB socket or a large seat for two passengers, as is usual in the rest of the model variants.

Finally, refer to the aesthetic section where Suzuki offers its new frame in two color schemes typical of the Japanese brand: yellow and white/blue. To tell the truth, this is the only palpable difference with respect to its Chinese namesake, along with a specific graphics kit that puts us on the track that the latter now sports a new brand and model.
