Francisco Menezesvisible head of Holy Moly Motorcyclessurprise us again with one of his striking preparations, his new Yamaha WR250F Gaulois Blondes Edition. A mount that drinks from the design philosophy of another of the work of the Portuguese coach that we already show you here a few months ago.
We refer to the Plug-And-Play Kit destined to convert the image of Ténéré 700, in a very similar to the one who wore its grandmother, the XT600, in the mid-80 manufacture.
WR250F GAULISES BLONDES Edition in detail
Now from Holy Moly Motorcycles they present this WR250F Gauloises Blondes Edition in which they have been working in recent months. A preparation based on the well -known Yamaha offroad model that Dirt Rider described at the time: “There is a word to describe this motorcycle: fun. With almost all the same updates as its biggest range partner, but with 7 kilos less, the WR250F feels more compact and, without a doubt, less brutal.”
Concluded: “You can drive the 250 with more intensity without getting into trouble almost as fast as with the largest WR … the 250 roars more (than last year) and has a good power at low revolutions, but its new power is better shown in high revolutions: it is a cry!” In this case, we speak of a copy of 2005 that Menezes acquired in an unmoable state for its piloting.
Regarding why it was decided by Yamaha’s offroad model to undertake the project of this WR250F Gaulois Blondes Edition, it clarifies: “I wanted to try something light and with a smaller engine. I also wanted something to compete in Wheels & Waves, Malle Canyon and small classic races. But at the same time I needed something powerful and modern enough!”
He also explains Bike Bound’s companions that “All the pieces were damaged, destroyed or were not in stock. It took three steps backwards for each one forward all the time.” So, with the clear ideas of what I wanted to achieve with this preparation WR250F Gaulois Blondes Edition, he got down to work, disassembling the motorcycle completely. Currently of the donor specimen only the chassis remains.
From this, Menezes has been riding a series of high -level components from other motorcycles, as well as new invoice accessories. Among them we can highlight:
- Excel Takasago tires
- YZ450 forks for 2014
- YZ450 Bill of 2012
- Öhlins rear shock absorber
- Larger radiator with new silicone hoses
- Custom air box
- FULL ESCANIO AKRAPROVIč
- Full braking kit
- Personalized low -type seat, etc.
After eight months of work, it was necessary to decide what the color scheme would be the final touch to this project. As we can see in these photos, the Portuguese coach opted for a tribute book that used the Gaulois team Yamaha Factory MotoGP from 2002 to 2005. In any case, this combination is also inspired by the Yamaha Yz535 that at the time piloted Stéphane Peterhansel.
On how this WR250F Gauloises Blondes Edition goes, its creator states: “I still haven’t tried it off the road … but on the road, during the test, it was incredible! About 10/11,000 rpm and a wide, surprisingly powerful gearbox for a 250 cc with 20 years.” There is no doubt that beyond pure benefits, Holy Moly Motorcycles has again delighted us with a superb work, loaded with nuances, and where nostalgia plays a decisive role.
