And recently they have echoed this Yamaha TZ250 from 1988, which, in addition to treasuring an aura of exclusivity for the simple fact of being the model that it is, also draws attention due to the curious nature of its preparation. This, among other things, It is equipped with a Honda XR600 engine.
More than one person will wonder what madman came up with the idea of putting a 4-stroke single-cylinder engine in a 2-stroke twin-cylinder sports bike from the 80s. However, those of us who have already reached a certain age are part of an era where the so-called SoS (Sounds of Singles) competitions became really popular. One of those flagships of these championships is the iconic and highly sought-after Ducati Supermono.

Drawing on history and seeing what the TZ250 represented on the circuits over two decades, this model, per year, belongs to the series TZ250U Originally equipped with a parallel twin-cylinder engine that was completely different from the one fitted to the 87 model.
The cylinders, exhaust and carburettors were repositioned. This provided better cooling in the intake area and a better centre of gravity, with the engine further forward and in a lower position. The crankcase was now in one piece and the gear change system was now a “cassette” type.
However, all this is not enough to describe this 1988 vintage TZ250, since its current owner has equipped it with an XR600 engine, completely changing the philosophy of the model.
