37% of motorcycles in Spain do not have ITV per day

The DGT data that the public body recently handles speaks of a mobile registered motorcycle park of 4,369,990, of which it records 1,606,377 do not have the ITV per day. These data, shared by AECA-ITV imply that 37% of registered motorcycles, that is, practically 4 out of 10 do not have ITV in force.

These are certainly alarming data, because although there are many of those registered motorcycles that are not circulating and are stored in collections without leaving or in garages (which is also illegal), there are also many that will surely be circulating through our cities and roads without a review that, like or not, is mandatory.

Ensuring their own interests and after analyzing the data of the DGT, Guillermo Magaz, managing director of AECA-ITV comments on the matter: “Despite the efforts and safety campaigns of the DGT in the control of the ITV and the awareness campaigns made by AECA-ITV even almost 4 out of 10 motorcycles that are on the roads and Spanish cities may not be complying with the road safety standards and environmental protection.”

Although the situation is further complicated with the cyclomotor, of which in our country there are according to the data of the DGT 1,618,349 and neither more nor less than 1,231,397 or what is the same, 76% do not have the technical inspection of vehicles per day. In this case, surely many of these mopeds are also stacked in town houses and do not appear as low, and are not operational, but other tens but hundreds of thousands will be circulating without the ITV, either due to ignorance or negligible.

27% of motorcycles circulate without insurance, according to the DGT data

But where the DGT data are really alarming is at the point that they collect that 27% of motorcycles circulate without having the mandatory insurance in force, a figure that reaches 69% in the case of cyclomotor. In this case, the way in which the estimates are carried out, that is, if the mobile park and insurance data are crossed, or it is about estimates according to other factors are not commented.

The published data are worrisome

In any case, if circular without ITV is a delicate issue, doing it without mandatory insurance is something really reckless and insolidario. Beyond what this DGT data includes, the truth is that at first glance they do not leave the motorcycle collective in a very good place, more when until September 10 they have died, according to AECA-ITV, 207 people who moved on a motorcycle and 14 in cyclomotor in our country.
