The MotoGP signing market for 2026 was revolutionized with the confirmation that Toprak Razgatlioglu would run with the Pramac Yamaha. But that implied that, either Jack Miller or Miguel Ángel Oliveira, they would run out of the team.
Well, that second place that not only aspired by the Australian and the Portuguese, but also other pilots like Manu González, was making the Japanese take to decide. After all, the M1 we know is currently about to disappear to arrive at the V4, and also, next year it will be important to prepare the change of regulations.
That is why there were many variables that Yamaha has to weigh, not to mention that Miguel Ángel Oliveira has a contract for 2026, although he is the pilot who has achieved the brand this year. But, as Gino Borsoi has recognized Dazn, it is the one who shares the best information about the motorcycle.
Miller wanted to define his future as soon as possible and launched an ultimatum to Yamaha
Logically on the other side of equation are all pilots who hope to let their future resolved as soon as possible. That is why Jack Miller was beginning to lose his nerves and during the previous GP of Hungary he publicly showed tiredness with the situation: «I have been more than patient. If they love me, they love me, and if not, no. It’s that clear ». And it is that the Australian has on the table with different offers for his future, which according to the rumors directly point to the WSBK by Ducati’s hand.
In this sense, he did not put any deadline on the table, but he did not know that he was not going to continue waiting for much longer: «Right now, your conjectures are as good as mine as to what their strategy is and what they plan to do. I have options, and I will move on with them if something does not arrive soon ».
With media partners insisting he answered: «I have one in mind, but I’m not going to tell them. I have been more than patient. If they love me, they love me, and if not, no. It is that clear«.
Therefore, it was clear that the decision was on Yamaha’s roof to be able to “retain” or not to the Australian in his project. A curious way to exert pressure from Miller that surprised because apparent launch a public ultimatum is not the best way to manage negotiations …
However, and perhaps by chance because the decision was taken or by other factors that could influence the negotiations, it seems that Yamaha has decided that Miller will continue in the project and therefore discard Oliveira despite the contract and also Manu González who does not finally find a place in the queen category will continue on Moto2 with his current team.
The fact is that, although at the moment it is not official, in Yamaha they have decided to keep Miller in the template for the experience he treasures in the queen category has piloted for Honda, Ducati, KTM and currently for Yamaha. Although neither their results nor those of Oliveira are being brilliant, the commitment to the development of the V4 focuses all the future efforts of the Japanese who, currently, have the only grill motorcycle without that configuration and have less power.
As we say, the official confirmation by Yamaha is still missing, but the rumors that arrive directly from the MotoGP paddock point to what will be in the next few days when the election of the Japanese manufacturer is made public.
