Motorcycle theft continues to be one of the biggest headaches for thousands of European motorcyclists, especially for those who park on the street every day. In this context, SAB Motorcycle Storage Ltd, also known commercially as Secure A Bikea British firm based in Stafford that has just relaunched its activity after a change of ownership and a brief transition period.
The company specializes in the manufacture of high-security metal shelters for motorcycles, designed for installation outdoors. These are closed, robust structures fixed to the ground, designed specifically for users who do not have a private garage, but are looking for protection far superior to that of a simple padlock or chain.
This is the SAB anti-theft shelter
The company currently produces 2 different sizes of shelter units, both constructed from 2mm thick straight steel panels with a powder-coated finish. Inside, the front wheel of the motorcycle fits into a cart made of 2.5 mm steel, which can be secured with a padlock or chain and allows the motorcycle to be moved inside the shelter.
Each unit is assembled following the orientation chosen by the client and the average assembly time is around 90 minutes. The doors have reinforced internal hinges, a key detail to make any forced entry attempts from the outside difficult.
As we have mentioned, the range is divided into 2 versions. The most compact, called Raceris designed for sports motorcycles and smaller models. Its price is about 3,270 euros and its interior dimensions are 940 mm wide, 1,375 mm high and 2,400 mm long.
The version Heritagelarger, reaches a price of approximately 3,450 euros and is aimed at touring motorcycles, large naked bikes or even cruisers, with internal measurements of 1,040 mm wide, 1,642 mm high and 2,800 mm long.
As explained Mike Owensone of the current directors of the company, SAT It usually maintains a stock of 10 units of each model. Once sold out, the delivery time is around 3 weeks from the start of manufacturing. Owens He took over the business approximately a year and a half ago with his partner Sean Wallettrelying on the experience accumulated by the previous owner, Derek Hughes.
The production of the shelters is now carried out by KMF Groupan industrial manufacturer based in Newcastle, which allows manufacturing to be maintained entirely in the UK. Owens recognizes that it is not a business designed for large volumes or spectacular margins. In fact, the relaunch responds more to a question of personal conviction and confidence in the product. He assures that one of his commitments when acquiring the company was not to let the project disappear.
Looking to the future, SAT It already contemplates the integration of more advanced security systems, such as cameras and alarms, to convert its shelters into even more complete solutions against theft.
Although they are not a very economical option, these types of structures offer a very serious and reliable alternative to the traditional garage, especially for urban motorists with limited space. Their robust approach, metal construction and the good ratings of previous models suggest that they are designed to last many years outdoors. That without a doubt.
