BMW and BMW Motorrad, in their South African subsidiary, have joined forces to launch two very special editions that reflect their close relationship: Both the “M2 Edition” like the “RR Edition” have been built on its high-performance models, with a distinctive M character, extensive personalization options and available exclusively in South Africa. Only 10 copies of each of these limited series will be offered.
New “M2 Edition” editions in detail
According to BMW Motorrad, the S 1000 RR is “the best-selling sports motorcycle in South Africa”. In this special and limited edition “M2 Edition” is finished in Storm Black Metallic with red accents on the front fairing and passenger seat cover. In addition, it includes a tinted screen, a seat with the embossed M logo and Design Option wheels with red accents.
For its part, the M 1000 RR M2 Editionpainted in the same black color, features red accents on its distinctive M carbon wheels, fuel tank and front fairings. The front spoilers feature the RR emblem in a striking red color. Both “M2 Edition” editions include the distinctive bright red RR logos on their front side fairings.
Although technically identical to the standard models from which they are based, both are offered with Akrapovič exhaust systems. Now available, the BMW S 1000 RR M2 Edition has an official price of 406,950 South African rand, 20,970 euros approximatelyfor R882,100 (about 45,451 euros) which costs the exclusive BMW M 1000 RR M2 Edition,
BMW M2 Coupe RR Edition
We cannot miss the opportunity to mention the exclusive M2 Coupé RR Edition that is also part of this initiative. Its powerful in-line six-cylinder engine stands out above anything else. 473 HP of power equipped with innovative technology M TwinPower Turbo. For the occasion, a Sapphire Black Metallic color scheme, M Performance suspension (with red springs) lowered by 20 mm and M Performance wheels with a Jet Black finish are included.
The dimensions are 20 inches on the front axle and 21″ on the rear. The aerodynamics are reinforced by the splitters front and rear painted black with red inserts. At the rear, the BMW M2 Coupé RR Edition sports two spoilers on the roof and trunk, also in black with a red accent stripe. Additionally, a specially customized Akrapovič exhaust system has been developed for this edition.
Inside, the seats stand out: they are black with red reinforcements and stitching. The center marking on the steering wheel at 12 o’clock and the two M buttons for selecting personalized vehicle settings also come in this color. Another distinctive feature is the standard sunroof, available exclusively for this edition.
It will be offered from the fourth quarter of 2026 in versions with six-speed manual transmission or eight-speed M Steptronic with Drivelogic. Final pricing will be determined at launch.
