Brembo continues to expand its radius of operations with the creation of an increasingly complete range of products. Also expanding its presence through agreements with specialized companies in the sector. Its latest joint venture with Ningbo safe Brakes Systems will focus on local assembly and supply of motorcycle ABS in the Indian market.
Brembo will hold a majority stake of 60% and has further confirmed that operations will be carried out at a specialized manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune, one of the major industrial hubs for the country’s automotive and motorcycle industry, right next to the Brembo India plant.
Ningbo SAFE Brakes Systems, a clear benchmark in the sector
As confirmed by both parties, the project includes the implementation of highly advanced and automated assembly lines. In any case, the plant is expected to employ around 50 people, with a progressive increase depending on production volumes and the location of the supply chain. Andrea PaganessiChief Operating Officer of Brembo’s Global Motorcycle Business Unit, said:
“The joint venture with Ningbo SAFE Brakes Systems reflects our commitment to supporting
the progressive evolution of motorcycle safety standards in India. Leveraging our long experience in the Indian market and investing in local production and industrial capabilities, we aim to accompany the market transition towards more advanced braking solutions.”
Ningbo SAFE Brakes Systems, established in December 2014, is engaged in the development, manufacturing, sales and technical services of anti-lock braking systems (ABS) for two-wheeled vehicles. Currently, it has 6 ABS assembly lines, 4 ECU assembly lines and “It is equipped with a complete laboratory that meets international standards to ensure mass production and continuous technological iteration”they explain from the brand itself.
The association between both companies reinforces the commitment to the development and manufacture of basic braking solutions for motorcycles under the BYBRE brand, precisely allowing the supply of braking systems in the Indian market. BRSF Active Safety Solutions will thus offer customers dual-channel and single-channel ABS solutions.
The main objective of the latter is to cover all the needs that arise from the Indian market. In the future, other more advanced technology products will also be introduced if necessary. “The industrial structure has been designed to enable the new company to respond effectively to current market requirements and react quickly to evolving safety standards in India”both parties conclude.
