GoPro announces its second quarter results and the data is not encouraging at all

Results reports for some companies can become almost a death sentence if they do not find the appropriate solutions to straighten the company’s course. This could be the case of GoPro, or that is at least what we have concluded after knowing the data associated with the brand’s economic activity in the last three months. The figures presented in its most recent report are, to say the least, unflattering.

GoPro in a complicated financial situation

Recent times have not been easy for GoPro, and this is clearly reflected both in its quarterly financial reports and in the perspectives presented to the company in the short and medium term.

So much so that last May, GoPro’s Board of Directors authorized a process to evaluate a possible sale of the company and other strategic alternatives, with the aim of maximizing value for shareholders.

In any case, focusing on the current moment, it is inevitable to focus on the financial results recently presented by the brand where there are two devastating data that highlight the moment it is going through:

  • Revenue was $105 million, down 31% from the previous year.
  • Sales amounted to approximately 291,000 camera units, which represents a decrease of 38% compared to the previous year.

Likewise, adjusted EBITDA was negative, at $29 million, compared to negative $6 million in the same quarter last year. This means that the company has been losing money since the start of the year. All this despite the fact that, for example, revenue from subscriptions and services increased by 11% year-on-year, reaching $29 million.

This figure represents 28% of total revenue, compared to 17% of revenue in the second quarter of 2025. Another positive development is directly related to the subscriber acquisition rate. This reached a record 69%, compared to 54% in the same quarter of the previous year. Concomitantly with this fact, the ARPU (average revenue per user) of subscriptions increased 9% year-on-year and 5% compared to the previous quarter.

A future yet to be decided

Although the latest economic data presented by GoPro does not encourage optimism, the brand is clear that its objective is to continue working and developing new technologies with which to keep its prestige afloat. In this context, last May, GoPro began distributing its new range of MISSION 1 compact cameras. The two models that make up this series have “received numerous industry accolades, including critics’ awards and press recommendations” as the company states.

On the other hand, since last year 2025 GoPro has collaborated with AGV Helmets to have its own range of helmets. In 2024, the action camera company acquired the Australian helmet brand Forcite Helmet Systems, seeking commercial expansion within this field. He has also spoken on this matter stating that “GoPro’s initiative to create motorcycle helmets with integrated technology, developed jointly with AGV, the leading Italian helmet brand, continues to progress on schedule.”

They conclude by explaining that The helmet recently obtained ECE 22.06 safety certificationone of the most advanced and complete safety standards for helmets for urban use in the sector. Finally we are left with the statements that have been made Nicholas Woodmanfounder and CEO of GoPro, after learning about this brand’s quarterly report:

“In the second quarter, we expanded the performance and creative potential of our camera range with the launch of the MISSION 1 series and continued to advance our strategic review process to maximize shareholder value. I am excited about our new products as they further establish GoPro as one of the most exciting digital imaging companies and brands in the world.”
