A year after his first success in the Guinness Book of Records, Silvio Sabba and Valerio Boni They have done it again. This time they swapped the Ducati Scrambler for a Desmo450 EDS, took on a rough dirt track near Milan and continued riding for 24 hours. The result: more than 900 miles in 24 hours, 1,448.732 kilometers, 1,588 laps and a new Guinness World Record, officially ratified, in the team motocross distance category.
Silvio Sabba and Valerio Boni and their battle against the clock
The attempt took place from October 1 to 2, 2026 in Rhône, outside Milan. There was no specially prepared bike, no second bike waiting in the pits, no additional lighting for the night run. Just one Ducati Desmo450 EDS as standardtwo very determined drivers and a circuit that turned out to be considerably more difficult than it seemed.
Their first joint record, achieved between September 23 and 24, 2025 aboard a Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle, occurred shortly before Ducati’s centenary. The last feat comes in 2026; Without a doubt an unexpected way to celebrate Ducati’s 100 years. The idea to venture off-road came about at the end of the Scrambler challenge.
At that time it sounded more like a joke: what if they repeated the experience, but with a real motocross bike? Soon, the suggestion became a serious project, carried out under an incredibly tight deadline. The bike was the Ducati Desmo450 EDS, an enduro model developed from the Desmo450 MX motocross.
Its 449.6 cc desmodromic single-cylinder engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox; Other enduro-specific details include revised Showa suspension settings, an 18-inch rear wheel, and an 8.5-liter fuel tank. But one feature was more important than the others: unlike the MX, the Desmo450 EDS comes with a full LED lighting system. This was essential for a record attempt that stretched well into the night.
A production motorcycle for a historical record
The rules of Guinness Book of Records They would have been allowed to use two motorcycles, one for each. Sabba and Boni chose to share a single Desmo450 EDS, keeping it in its original configuration. They even resisted installing auxiliary headlights, relying solely on the original headlight after dark.
That decision had consequences. The course was flat and lacked the jumps typical of a motocross circuit, but its ruts, potholes and unevenness became especially problematic as visibility decreased. The Desmo450 EDS, on the other hand, simply did its job.
Completed 24 hours without needing repairs. Apart from refueling, the only planned mechanical stop was for an oil and filter change and a general inspection. The team finished the service in less than 17 minutes, with the stopwatch ticking. No modifications were required to improve performance, endurance or range.
The certification by the Guinness Book of Records as “Greatest distance traveled on a motocross motorcycle in 24 hours (team)”, leaves a record for the annals of history of this joint feat of Silvio Sabba and Valerio Boni: “The greatest distance traveled on a motocross bike in 24 hours (by teams) is 1,448,732.4 km (900,200.5 miles) and was achieved by Silvio Sabba and Valerio Boni (both Italian) in Rodano, Milan, Italy, on October 2, 2026.”
Concludes: “Silvio and Valerio took turns driving a Ducati motocross motorcycle for 24 hours. Between the two of them they completed a total of 1,588 laps, each with a distance of 912 meters.” Our most sincere congratulations to the team and the brand for achieving this new record.
