Is it just me or does more than one person’s day brighten every time they come across a ZRX1100 (or ZRX 1200 failing that), whether while traveling on the road or, as in this case, as a sales advertisement?
The culmination of this situation is that the unit in question is literally brand new; “new in package”; in true NOS (New Old Stock) condition. In short, a “barn find” textbook of those that those of us who consider ourselves petrolheads like so much without any hint of a solution.
This ZRX1100 has been “canned” for 25 years
25 or 26, since the unit that the friends of Iconic Motorbikes are currently auctioning is specifically dated 1999. In any case we are looking at a completely new motorcycle or, what is the same, no one has ever taken control of it. Something that should be considered a crime, taking into account that it is considered one of the nineties maxinaked most idolized by two-wheeled fans.
Among other things, because the Kawasaki ZRX1100 was classified at the time as an almost perfect motorcycle, due to the general balance of its assembly. In fact, Cycle World rated it in 2010 as the “Best Used Motorcycle” of large displacement that one could buy at that time, praising its style and overall performance: “Kawasaki has built the best standard bike since standard bikes were standard.”
The fact is that, looking back at this reflection from the well-known North American media, today, the ZRX1100 has rather little of a standard, being a truly iconic mount among motorcycle fans in general and those of the Akashi brand in particular. This is thanks, among other things, to its 1,052 cc, water-cooled tetra-cylinder engine capable of offering us up to 97 HP of power to the rear wheel, with tons of torque at any speed.
These final figures translated into a top speed of 230km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. Furthermore, the Japanese firm entrusted the cycle part of the model to a simple technical architecture, but loaded with top quality components.
The high point of the ZRX1100 was undoubtedly the color schemes that the different versions of the model sported, including the iconic livery from when Eddie Lawson raced one in the AMA, like the one displayed on the example featured in these lines.
This, associated with the chassis number JKAZRBC1XXA025161 shows 0.6 miles traveled (1 kilometer) on its odometer. According to the description of the ad itself, “The seller has not performed any maintenance. He adds that there are no known mechanical problems.” It is also clarified that it is completely original to the point of mounting the standard tires with which the model was marketed at the time, Bridgestone BT57.
The motorcycle is specifically located in Carroll, Ohio and two keys and the owner’s manual are included with the sale. If you have come this far and have been looking for a ZRX1100 for some time to bring light and color to your life, we highly doubt that you will find another copy in this condition.
Of course, the highest bid at the time of typing these lines is $9,100, without having reached the minimum reserve price, so it is assumed that this figure will increase significantly in the next two days.
