Like every year, BMW Motorrad has published all those changes and improvements that will affect its new range of 2027 models. The curious thing about the matter is that none of them are related to the current GS line. It is not strange that talk of a possible R 1350GS as a natural evolution of the well-known R 1300 GS. However, for this to end up materializing in a new model, it is very likely that this will not happen until at least the 2028 season.
New BMW R 1350 GS: what we know
Year after year, the commercial dynamics of the main brands on the market tend to coincide in the way in which they are applied. BMW Motorrad is no exception and, as in previous years, around this time it usually gives us a preview of what we can expect for the next season. In fact, we recently got to know the “BMW 2027 Range: all the changes and new colors” in depth.
The most striking thing about this virtual presentation is the absence of all the models that currently make up the everlasting “GS range”. If we review one by one all the new features that the German company will offer us for next year, we can see firsthand how none of them affect the R 1300 GS, F 900 GS, or the new F 450 GS (the latter was something to be expected, since it has just been presented). The coveted Adventure version does not appear in this list either.
As expected, some of the main international media, including Motorrad Online, have begun to speculate on the possibility that BMW is already deep in the development process of a future R 1350 GS. At this point we must remember that the current model, the R 1300 GS, will complete in 2026 what will be its third season within the range of models of the Bavarian brand.
Historically, BMW Motorrad has renewed this iconic family every four or five years. Using the rule of three, it is likely that a future R 1350 GS will be unveiled at the end of next year, possibly taking advantage of the well-known Milan Motor Show, with the idea of launching it on the market for the first quarter of 2028. From this commercial perspective, meanwhile, it is possible that the R 1300 GS suffers some type of restyling over the next few months.
This is one of the main reasons why the German company has not announced, for the moment, any changes to its GS range. If the aforementioned aesthetic and equipment modifications to the current BMW maxitrail are confirmed, these will be made official from now on. In any case, it is not a confirmed issue from within the brand itself, so we have to wait for new updates on the matter. We will be attentive.
