One of the ways to get more out of an engine is supercharging. There are machines that have a compressor as standard, and others that incorporate it in later preparations, but it is always an extra over a naturally aspirated engine. It is the previous step to a turbo and is also less technically complicated, but the results are equally impressive.
The proof is that this time we are talking about two motorcycles and a car, all three supercharged. Of course, the figures are disparate and, of course, are not in the range that we have seen on other occasions, with supercharged models close to 400 HP.
Even so, the figures are not negligible, because both the Triumph Rocket III and the Ariel Atom declare a quite interesting 320 HP. Meanwhile, 100 HP below we find the Suzuki GSX1400 so, a priori, in this supercharging party it is the least muscular and the one with the fewest options. Or not?
Supercharging with compressors is simpler than with turbos, but it is also effective
Since these supercharged beasts are not going to drive themselves, they share the spotlight with Rich, from TTS Performance, who in turn is the creator of the legendary 370 HP SuperBusa that we have talked about before, and Al Fagan, one of his friends.
So with everything they launch themselves on the runways of the Turweston airfield, to see which of the three machines is the most effective in an acceleration race. We are not going to tell you who will be the fastest, but in this supercharging party we must keep in mind that not everything that counts is raw power but how it is applied. And, also, the traction of each of the vehicles must be taken into account, in addition to their weight-power ratio.
All in all, what is certain is that they had a very, very good time and that anyone would volunteer to do the same at any time. Of course, the Ariel Atom is sure to be much more enjoyable on a track.
