After 15 years in the dry dock, the iconic acronyms RSV1000 of Aprilia are again full after the Italian firm has requested registration of these in the US patent office
So we have the doubt about what you will be planning from Noale, and if these plans go to delight us again with a high performance V-TWIN mount.
New APRILIA RSV1000: Following the steps of Ducati?
It is clear that the tendency to the use of bicylindrical mechanics, in much of the current offer, could lead to Aprilia to develop a V-TWIN option that accompanied the current RSV4 within the range of sports offered by the Transalpina brand.
The clearest example of this trend is with the new Panigale V2 2025, a motorcycle that not only maintains Ducati’s legacy, but also improves its versatility for daily use with respect to the V4 variant.
On the other hand, as Cycle World’s companions point out, Yamaha launched its new YZF-R9, although in this case not complement the street offer with a high-specification tetrachindric model.
In any case, and returning to Aprilia, the brand has no intermediate sports model between RS 660 and the aforementioned RSV4. So why not a RSV1000, halfway between them?
It is not a crazy option, although it would not be propelled by the legendary V-Twin at 60º who once equipped the RSV1000. She probably would resort to the bicylindrical engine that subsequently mounted the Shiver and Dorsodur, oy that recently used the newly presented April 900, initially directed to the Chinese market and almost identical to the variant of the model that the brand itself marketed a five years.
Recall that the model was available in versions of 750 cc, 900 cc and 1200 cc, under a technical architecture V2 to 90º. If we add to all this that the partner of Aprilia in China, Zonsen, prepares the next launch of the new Cyclone SR1000, with a version of this mechanic taken to 996 cc, it could be viable that Noale’s firm took advantage of the occasion to develop a new RSV1000 of new invoice, using this same engine.
Although a maximum power of 105 hp would not be initially declared for the new Naked model of Zonsen, we do not believe that it would let the opportunity to make the convenient adjustments and increase this figure to short of those close to those of its possible rivals.
All this also conditioned by the changes that could reach the WSBK towards the cheapest motorcycles and Superstock -style regulations, which make them closer to the specifications of the street models, a fact that would facilitate the possible arrival of a new generation RSV1000.
