We have mentioned it on other occasions, electric offroad motorcycles have a long way to go. They are perfect for operating in the middle of nature with less pollution in general and, mainly, with less noise pollution. Thanks to these characteristics, they are a perfect ally, and even more so if you add the fact that in the case of motocross, large autonomy is not necessary.
So, adding up these situations, it is normal to see how the main brands are betting on electric offroad motorcycles. Honda is the leader in terms of Japanese motorcycles, but Yamaha and Suzuki are not far behind and now it is Kawasaki that is clearly showing its interest.
It should also be remembered that of the four brands mentioned, the only one that already has electric motorcycles (not scooters) on the market is Kawasaki. And this fact is important, since both electric versions have removable batteries. This detail is also in the patents. The batteries are removable, as stated in these, and this means that they could be charged outside and thus be able to exchange batteries without having to wait.
Kawasaki’s electric offroad bike would have concepts in common with street electrics
It is easy to imagine that the cycle is over, the battery is removed, the new one is put in and the electric offroad bike is ready to go. A system that, while it may have advantages on the street, may be perfect for recreational use, although there is more. And the patents themselves speak of “battery packs” that could increase autonomy.
This part would make sense to offer the customer of this Kawasaki electric offroad bike a motocross version and another one prepared for enduro. In fact, part of the patent also focuses on the safety device that would make both batteries work at the same time and prevent the electrical components of the bike from being damaged.
However, we are still waiting to discover more details about the bike because, on this occasion, everything is focused on the battery system and its application in the electric offroad bike, but without specifying anything else. So we will have to keep waiting…
