Due to trade agreements between motorcycle and tire manufacturer brands, each new motorcycle that leaves the dealership has specific tyres. In theory, they are the ones that best adapt to the characteristics of that motorcycle from the tyre manufacturer’s range. Sometimes, in specific models due to performance or measurements, that tyre may even be developed specifically for that motorcycle.
Therefore, it is normal that when buying a new motorcycle we are mostly satisfied with the performance of the tyre, especially when we are talking about top-level tyre manufacturers. And that is also why when it comes to changing the tyre we choose to buy the same tyre that came as standard.
This is when we are struck by the doubt of whether the standard tyre is the same as the one we can buy, and then when the time comes to change it. The answer is yes and at the same time it may not be.
The tire on your new motorcycle and the one you put on later may be both the same and different.
Based on an example that comes to us from Bridgestone, the Japanese manufacturer has the famous Battlax Adventure A41 that we have been able to test thoroughly and that are so versatile that they can be used on very different types of trail bikes.
The fact is that in the “surname” of each of these Bridgestone tyres we can find three different letters. There are G, F or E and that is because they are designed for a specific model and some parameters can vary to adapt to each one of them.
So, and continuing with the example of the Battlax Adventure A41, we could buy the same ones that came as standard on our bike and, at the same time, they would not be the same if the lettering is not the same as that which came on our new bike. That is why you have to pay attention to this aspect when you are going to change them, something that will be much easier if you deal directly with an official distributor of the brand in question.
