Bajaj, the Indian giant that is landing in Spain but that already dominates half the world

In recent weeks we have attended the official presentation and landing of Bajaj in our country. The Indian manufacturer arrives with two motorcycles, the Pulsar 125 and the Dominar 400 (which we already tested) as a preview of what is to come, since two other models are expected to arrive in 2025. A scaled arrival that will end up establishing the Indian giant in our local market.

And although Bajaj may not sound familiar to many, the truth is that it is one of the most powerful motorcycle manufacturers in the world. It began its journey in India in 1945 with Mr. Jamnalal Bajaj at the helm, and today it is the third business conglomerate in India, it is present in 100 countries and has nearly 10,000 employees around the world.

These figures are already impressive enough, but in addition to the motorcycles sold under the Bajaj name, the company also manufactures for KTM, Husqvarna and Triumph. In fact, some of the models of both brands are manufactured or have been manufactured there and then exported to other international markets, in addition to being marketed in India.

Bajaj sales are divided between the local and international markets almost 50%

As for its main markets, we can say that they are not completely balanced, but they are quite close, with the local market (one of the most important in terms of motorcycles) as the main support, but with the international market really close or even in some of the years like 2022, surpassing it.

In any case, we are talking about a total of motorcycles per year that has reached almost four million in 2020 despite the health crisis of that year, and that remains around 3.5 million motorcycles sold.

Bajaj sales globally in recent years

The figures indicate that it is already an important player within the entire global panorama, but its new steps show that this importance will continue to increase and also with an experience in electric motorcycles that can be overwhelming compared to European firms, since it only In 2023, they sold 115,702 units of the Bajaj Chetak.

This would imply, to understand the volume compared to the Spanish market, that around one in every two new motorcycles sold in Spain were only of this model.
