Bezzecchi puts the finishing touch to Aprilia’s best season

This weekend the curtain came down on MotoGP 2025, and it did so in the best possible way: with intensity. After a year without being able to compete at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, the track was packed to capacity for the last event of the season and attendees were able to enjoy the racing in its purest form.

And on both Saturday and Sunday the excitement was present, with differences in times between the drivers that have been almost non-existent, especially in training and in qualifying. A classification that already left a clear warning by seeing Marco Bezzecchi as the fastest.

Álex Márquez is always prepared for the attack

For one reason or another, the perfect weekend eluded Bezzecchi, and on this occasion it was a problem at the start, which caused the Italian to lose positions at the start. This situation when surrounded by drivers like Álex Márquez, Pedro Acosta, Raúl Fernández or Fabio Di Giannantonio, among others, means that no one leaves even an extra centimeter.

It was, precisely, Márquez and Acosta who were in charge of setting the pace with Álex in the lead who did not give a single break to Pedro who took every last thousandth out of his KTM. The two showed consistency and only a slight braking pass from Acosta was enough for the distance between them to increase and Álex added a new victory in the sprint race.

The podium seemed to be in the hands of Raúl Fernández, very solid in this final part of the season, but the choice of front tire was not correct and with two laps remaining Di Giannantonio took the position from him. Bezzecchi achieved fifth place with Morbidelli sixth, Quartararo seventh, Binder eighth and Ogura completing the nine positions that give the right to points.

Bezzecchi redeems himself and wins the 2025 Valencia GP

Although Marco Bezzecchi is a professional, Saturday’s problem is one of those situations that end up weighing you down mentally, even if you don’t want to. But the Italian managed to put it aside to take the roller for a walk in Sunday’s race. He did not give up at the start and neither did he give up in the rest of the race, he imposed his pace and marked enough distance to, when the time came, manage as much as possible.

It was soon seen that Álex Márquez did not have enough pace to follow the Italian, but no one seemed to have it in the initial stages. Even so, the runner-up in the world held second position until the tenth lap when Raúl Fernández, with much more pace than Álex, overtook him and the fight against the clock and against Bezzecchi began.

The man from Madrid, in a spectacular performance, was cutting down a thousandth by a thousandth to a Bezzecchi who managed as best he could and withstood the pull. The two Aprilia riders gave their best to get a first and second, since it shows that the work done from Noale places them as candidates to fight for everything in 2026.

As for the third step on the podium, it was finally taken by Fabio Di Giannantonio who repeated Saturday’s performance, overtaking Pedro Acosta with two laps to go, leaving the Spaniard without the podium in the final stages. Also at the end, on the last lap, Fermín Aldeguer snatched fifth place from Álex Márquez who, with tire problems, had to settle for sixth position.

Luca Marini led Honda to seventh place with an important significance and that is that by adding the 9 points of the seventh position Honda managed to move to group C of concessions instead of D and, although the performance is not equal to that of Aprilia and KTM, it is already in the same step for the moment. A recognition of the step forward that the Japanese brand has taken, especially in the second half of the season.

Brad Binder, Jack Miller and Enea Bastianini completed the top 10, which was left out by Miguel Ángel Oliveira, who crossed the finish line in eleventh position, putting an end to his MotoGP racing career, at least for now. The Portuguese, who has not had luck on his side in the last three years with multiple injuries, leaves with a record that many would like: 5 victories in MotoGP and 7 podiums that are added to the 12 victories achieved between Moto2 and Moto3, for a total of 41 podiums between the three categories.
