In recent weeks the rumor had been loud about the launch of a new BMW F 450 R and finally the German brand has not been made to wait any longer: its new sports-style naked frame, intended for pilots in possession of the A2 license, is now a reality. Developed under the motto “offer maximum driving pleasure”is presented in four attractive equipment versions.

With the F 450 R, we transfer our decades-long tradition of naked motorcycles to a compact and especially accessible format.”

The heart of the new BMW F 450 R is the well-known parallel twin-cylinder engine. 420cc which is used on the F 450 GS, but tuned specifically for road riding. Light engine with character, it has a balance shaft and a crankshaft timing at 135º, all with a very low weight. The brand declares a power of 35 kW (48 hp) at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm, with a top speed of 169 km/h.
The engine is associated with a 6-speed gearbox, with successful timing that, in addition to making the most of the mechanics, manages to offer a tight average consumption of just 3.8 liters per 100 km. This, together with having a 14-liter fuel tank, gives the F 450 R an autonomy of more than 350 km.

The new BMW F 450 R also uses the newly developed chassis concept of the BMW F 450 GS as its technical basis, with a configuration specifically adapted to road use. The set-up has focused on ease of use and direct response. The chassis is made of welded steel tubes and forged components, with the parallel twin-cylinder engine integrated as a supporting element.
Front suspension is provided by a KYB 43mm inverted telescopic fork, while the rear features a closed, hollow cast aluminum double swingarm, combined with a KYB direct-mount central shock absorber with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping. The assembly rests on aluminum wheels shod with tubeless tires 110/70-17 at the front and 150/60-17 at the rear.
As for braking, at the front we have a 310 mm floating disc brake with a four-piston Brembo monobloc fixed caliper. At the rear, a second disc, 240 mm, and a ByBre floating caliper are responsible for this task. The BMW Motorrad ABS Pro system comes as standard on the new BMW F 450 R. In terms of heights, the model comes as standard with a two-piece seat at a height of 790 mm, while The declared weight is only 175 kilograms.

BMW has left nothing out when configuring its new model. As standard, the F 450 R has three driving modes: “Rain”, “Road” and “Dynamic”. Also with ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR).
In terms of style, the body and fuel tank are designed to offer secure support and effective knee grip. The gear lever, foot brake lever and side stand are made of forged aluminum. The passenger footrest supports are bolted to the rear frame, a quality detail in this category of vehicles.
In the lighting section we have an LED headlight that incorporates daytime running lights with the typical BMW distinction. The turn signals and taillight of the new F 450 R also use LED technology. The 6.5-inch TFT display of the new BMW F 450 R offers a wide range of information, including the “Pure Ride Screen” function.
The user can also make phone calls, listen to music and use the navigator comfortably and safely while driving. A practical USB-C port is at our disposal in the dashboard area. In addition, the brand gives us the possibility of configuring our F 450 R in up to four equipment versions:
