BMW Motorrad starts this new year with the announcement of a new 2025 range of its well-known R 18. Under the motto “Boldness and individuality join the culture of the Big Boxer”the Bavarian brand will announce all the news related to its maxicruiser in just a few days. Specifically, it will be next January 21 the moment chosen by the German firm for the official presentation of the next generation of the model.
BMW R 18 2025 range: What we already know
The Motorcycle colleagues have been the first to echo the news that BMW Motorrad has prepared for us regarding its R 18. To begin with and as an important fact, it is clear that the brand will continue to maintain the commercial name 1800, in accordance with the only image that can currently be seen in the advertising teaser video that they have posted on their YouTube channel.
This means that the long-awaited R20 will continue to simmer in BMW’s R&D laboratories. Let us remember that we are talking about the concept presented by the German firm last May on the occasion of the famous Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Since then, there have been many rumors surrounding this bike, but for now there is nothing clear about its possible official launch in the short or medium term.
So we must focus on what is coming imminently: The new R 18 range. As relevant aspects of the next generation, guided by the image offered by the brand, we can glimpse a change in the design of the front fork. On the other hand, according to the homologation data presented by the Bavarian firm at the Swiss patent office, the new generation R 18 maintains its 1,802 cc displacement unchanged.
However, although it declares the same maximum power as in the 2024 model, 89.8 hp at 4,750 rpmincreases the final torque figure up to 163 Nm. Likewise, there are variations in the final dimensions of the R 18, R 18 Classic and R 18 Roctane versions, while the measurements of the R 18 B bagger and the R 18 Transcontinental have not changed.
Finally, both the standard version and the R 18 B reduce their maximum weight by one kilo. The same does not happen with the R 18 B or the Transcontinental variant, which now weigh 5 and 3 kilos more than the previous versions. The rest of the official data remains a mystery and we will not be able to confirm them until next January 21. Stay tuned!
