Although electric motorcycles were designed with the city in mind, the truth is that the same thing that makes them interesting in the urban environment makes them an option to consider in the countryside. That is precisely what companies like Bonnell are addressing, which has just announced that its long-awaited 805 RX is now on sale.
And if in the city silence and not having combustion emissions are important, in the countryside it allows the sport to be taken much further. With gasoline motorcycles, noise pollution is evident, but with electric dirt bikes you could have a track at your doorstep and it would practically go unnoticed.

What does not go unnoticed, by any means, is the performance of the Bonnell 805 RX. To begin with, because it has 56 HP, which directly equates it with a four-stroke model but also with much more torque and, above all, that torque is available at any time.
But there is more and that is that in addition to the power and torque, Bonnell declares only 99 kg for the motorcycle with the battery already included, that is, in running order. Part of its contained weight has to do with the forged aluminum chassis and the hydroformed swingarm although, obviously, the batteries are not a liability in this sense either.
Nor should we overlook that it has driving modes, traction control, wheelie control, regeneration system, speed limits, parental control and hill assist. And in case you are one of those who would miss the clutch, the people at Bonnell also have the “Electronic Finger Lever” which, in addition to other functions, performs the electronic clutch.
Changing your battery is a “blink of an eye”
As for batteries, the Bonnell 805 RX has two options, the original 3.9 kWh and the 4.7 kWh which is optional and designed for competition. Another point that draws attention to the motorcycle is that according to the company, the batteries can be exchanged in less than 30 seconds, so the system is simple and in endurance races or more intensive use it would take the same or even less time than filling a gasoline tank.
And now comes the most interesting part of all, the price. And its announced price for the United States is $8,250 in its original version. To get an idea, with the current Dollar-Euro exchange rate we are talking about about 7,100 euros. Of course, for now there is no forecast for arrival in Europe and that price on American soil does not mean that it would cost the same here. In any case, we are facing a new contender in the battle for electric motocross and that is always good.
