Bosch has spent 6 million euros to develop a 3D printer that could change the industry

It is not the first time we are talking about a 3D printer, or pieces that have come out of one. Without going any further, we recently saw the way they had used one to manufacture the kit that was needed to convert a normal motorcycle into turbo. But this time we talk about major words, so old that the device costs neither more nor less than 6 million euros.

That is what is estimated that Bosch has spent on its new 3D Metal printer that could completely revolutionize the motorcycle industry. We already knew that some equipment used 3D modeling to make small pieces, and even the big brands do it for their prototypes if we talk about plastic, so the big difference is that it can now print, from metal powder, spectacular pieces.

One of those contributions that a 3D printer could make like this, would be when manufacturing new pieces in a faster, economical and effective way. And it is that from a plane it would be passed to the piece ready in a matter of little time and without the need for matrices, welds and other processes that are common.

The use of a 3D printer to make parts can completely change the process when creating a motorcycle

For now Bosch has this impressive machine on its Nuremberg plant and its commercial manager, Alexander Weischel, is convinced of the advantages he will give to the company:

“By making the fastest and most productive metal parts, this new installation will increase our competitiveness. The use of the 3D printer to manufacture components not only increases sustainability in production, but also allows Bosch to respond flexibly to fluctuations in lot sizes and offer everything from a single source.”

There is no doubt that it is a great step that, although it is not the most efficient for the moment when manufacturing thousands of equal pieces, it is a significant advantage for those pieces with less demand, since it can save, in addition to time, a lot of money.
