Light, manufactured in aluminum and fuel resistant. This is the fuel deposits that the British company Etto Motorcycles for different market models, including the special Ducati 916.
ETTO MOTORCYCLES: pure craft in aluminum
Little can be added to what has represented (and continues to do so) Ducati 916 within the two -wheeled world. If for a casual you do not know its full story yet, we strongly urge you to take an eye on our special about the model: “Ducati 916: 30 years of true idyll.” In this extensive article we review the development of the model, its variants and subsequent versions over almost a decade in the market.
That said and focusing on the incredible work carried out by the Etto Motorcycles team, with Ian Davis At the head, one of his latest works has been truly interesting, in which they have managed to give the exact form to an aluminum replica of the original deposit of the 916. But not only that is that thanks to their manufacturing process it goes from the original 4.19 kilos of the serial deposit to the serial tank to the 2.15 kilos that weigh the one they make.
For their design and subsequent manufacturing they finally chose to do so on the basis of two pieces only. The material used is 1050 aluminum 1.5 mm thick, that manages to maintain this same thickness even after being processed in the press. It is worth mentioning that there is only a welding to join both parties, and the final finish result can be checked in our image gallery: simply sublime.
The level of detail is such that, as they explain from Bike Bound, “It has also included a highlight for the drain plug. Like the pump ring, the threaded highlights, the ventilation tube and the second layer of the rear support with TIG, the highlight is a soldier with aluminum.” Said all this, Etto MotorcyCles announces that it already has its first department deposits ready to mount on any 916 Ducati.
Specifically, four are the initial units that have already manufactured at a rate of 2,250 pounds, something like 2,750 euros. At this point, we assume that many will sound face or very expensive. However, the level of work, the quality of the material used and the dedication put in each and every one of the terminations, is worth every euro of which this piece of British crafts costs.
