In recent years we have been discovering connected mobility projects and also the capabilities and what this type of technology can offer us in the future. A technology that would end up interconnecting all the vehicles on the road, and through this information even manage traffic.
It is said that connected mobility could even end traffic jams and is a perfect ally for autonomous driving: vehicles interacting with each other without the need for humans. But to get to that point there is still a lot of research and development to do, and to do so, investments are needed.
Well, one of those companies that is clearly betting on connected mobility is Brembo. The world’s most renowned manufacturer of braking systems has just acquired a stake in Spoke Safety.
What role does Spoke Safety play in connected mobility?
Spoke Safety, unlike Brembo, whose fame precedes it, is a start-up company that is determined to evolve in connected mobility and everything that has to do with it. They are specifically specialized in the development of digital communication technologies between vehicles and the road ecosystem.
And that is precisely what Brembo is trying to promote by also focusing on the braking system. In the words of Daniele Schillaci, CEO of Brembo: “Our vision for the near future is to enable the braking system to communicate and interact not only with the equipped vehicle, but with the entire road ecosystem, including other vehicles, infrastructure and communication networks, improving the driving experience and safety.”
Although it will still take some time to see the fruits of this union, Brembo and Spoke Safety are already working hand in hand thanks to the Brembo Inspiration Labe they have in Silicon Valley. What seems to be certain is that the future of mobility involves the greatest possible number of aids to the driver until the latter becomes just a passenger.
