Tony Cairoli rides the Ducati Powerstage RR to stay in shape

After retiring from active racing, Tony Cairoli has not left his links with motocross behind. So much so that, in addition to helping with the development of the Ducati Desmo450 MX, he has even competed with it. But to be able to give it his all on the cross bike, it is necessary to be very strong and for this, Cairoli will be able to complete his training with the Ducati Powerstage RR.

This is a pedal-assisted mountain bike. Although this may seem at first to be something that would not help a rider, the truth is that they allow constant pedaling and this helps cardiovascular training. This means that, in this case, Cairoli can maintain a more constant heart rate. With mountain bikes, the heart rate and effort are not as regular as in the case of other modalities.

There will only be 230 units of the Ducati Powerstage RR

Furthermore, thanks to the use of the Ducati Powerstage RR, the Italian will be able to increase the time he spends on training sessions. An exceptional bike that features a carbon fibre frame, Shimano EP801 motor with 85 Nm of torque, Öhlins suspensions, carbon rims, Braking brakes and 12 speeds to guarantee maximum performance.

The bad news is that the Ducati Powerstage RR is a limited edition of only 230 numbered units, so it’s practically a collector’s item. A collector’s item that you can see at WDW if you’re lucky enough to be at Misano, and that will be side-by-side with Cairoli’s other Ducati, the Desmo450 MX.

Cairoli has one of the 230 units that will exist

As for the bicycle and what it brings to him on a physical level, Tony Cairoli highlighted its value: “Motocross is an extremely physical discipline, requiring athletic preparation at the highest level based on strength and a lot of endurance. Therefore, the bike represents the perfect training. A large part of my winter preparation consists of training on a mountain bike. I chose an enduro model because, in addition to training by pedaling, it also allows me to tackle particularly technical trails and practice my riding technique. On a mountain bike, like on a motorcycle, you have to know how to choose the right trajectories, constantly correct the balance of the vehicle and body posture, control braking, make quick decisions and automate many movements. The bike allows you to go step by step and try new things by gradually increasing the speed of execution, to acquire greater control and confidence that are also useful on a motorcycle.”.
