Bulega achieves another triplet on a track that will end up causing disappointment

With the Hungarian round, the Superbike World Championship has already completed its first third. A first third that confirms the overwhelming superiority that Nicolo Bulega has shown so far, which does not leave the rivals even the slightest respite.

It has also been confirmed that the Hungarian track, despite having spectacular areas, also has complicated areas in which touches and falls can leave the drivers in the middle of the track at the mercy of their luck.

SBK Hungary 2026 – Race 1: Bulega brings out the steamroller

One of the big unknowns in Hungary was how Iker Lecuona could get closer to his teammate. But Nicolo Bulega had his own plan in this regard and after scoring pole, combined with a penalty for the Spaniard and the fact that he had not achieved the best possible classification, they left things easy for the Italian from the beginning.

And when that happens Bulega does not miss the opportunity. He came out with everything and ready to achieve his fourteenth consecutive victory, something he did while Lecuona was climbing position by position, showing his pace. But when he placed second he was already far behind his teammate.

Behind the Ducati duo was Miguel Ángel Oliveira who is showing an interesting progression with the BMW. So much so that after fighting with Montella he took third place on the podium. Álvaro Bautista, who after a difficult start ended up being one of the fastest in the final part of the race, finished fifth after another interesting duel with Alex Lowes.

Locatelli, Surra, Sam Lowes and Xavi Vierge completed a very staggered top10 with a lot of distance between the two leading drivers and the rest, much more evenly matched.

SBK Hungary 2026 – Superpole Race: Luck smiles on Nicolo and Oliveira, who emerge from an ugly fall without serious injuries

The feeling that the Superpole Race in Hungary had started over revving is something that was noticeable in the atmosphere. The first meters were chaos, with Bulega going long on two occasions and losing positions, a lot of battle in the peloton and Lecuona who could have his great opportunity. Just then, before the end of the first lap, a three-way carom between Locatelli, Sam Lowes and Miguel Ángel Oliveira caused the first and third to fall in the middle of the group, with Oliveira coming out worse off. Race Direction showed the red flag and everything started again, although with the Portuguese out of the race.

The positive part of this fall is that Oliveira came out of the accident relatively unscathed for what it could have been, with a concussion and a shoulder injury. On the restart Bulega did not fail and although Lecuona pushed as hard as possible, the Italian took another victory with Baldassarri completing the podium. Bautista, again faster at the end of the race, finished fourth with Montella, Surra, Alex Lowes, Gerloff and Mackenzie completing the nine places sharing points.

SBK Hungary 2026 – Race 3: And Bulega reached 16

Iker is getting closer to his first victory every day

Streaks end sooner or later, but Bulega’s remains at least for now. And in the second race in Hungary the Italian, who was closest to Lecuona at the start, came out with everything and withstood the pressure of the Spaniard in the first laps to seek his twelfth victory of the season and his sixteenth consecutive victory.

As much as Iker tried to end the streak in the final race of the weekend at Balaton Park, there was no way. Once again, far from both of them, the third place finisher crossed the finish line, which on this occasion was Yari Montella. Yari was fighting face to face with Baldassarri who had to settle for fourth position.

A surprising Garret Gergloff finished in fifth position, although far from Montella and Baldosara, after winning the game over Sam Lowes. Alberto Surra, in what has been his most complete weekend so far in the category, crossed the finish line in seventh position ahead of Mackenzie, Gardner and Manzi. Bautista and Vierge finished eleventh and twelfth respectively after Álvaro received a penalty in the final stretch of the race.

After the first four rounds of the WSBK 2026 and seen what was seen in Hungary, the title begins to have a Ducati color. Bulega leads with 82 points ahead of Lecuona who, in turn, is 67 points ahead of Sam Lowes who is third. A chasm between the two officers and the rest who will try to begin closing in Most, Czech Republic, in two weeks.
