As a tribute to the first MV engine and the first motorcycle of the brand, the MV 98, this launches the Ottantesimo Collectionin which the MV Agusta Centro Stile has redesigned the historic logo, which replaces the traditional MV Agusta logo on all the models that make up this special series.
The new logo draws inspiration from the past to reinforce the link with the Italian company’s heritage, while the word “Ottantesimo” (80th) underlines the model’s participation in the anniversary celebrations.
MV Agusta Ottantesimo Collection: The context
The history of the first MV engine, the 98, is closely intertwined with post-war events in Italy. The long and tragic global conflict left the country devastated: cities razed, infrastructure compromised and industrial production paralyzed. In this scenario, which would have discouraged anyone, Domenico Agusta was able to begin the adventure of Meccanica Verghera, the embryo of the glorious MV Agusta.
In August 1943, the 98 cc motorcycle engine was designed and studied down to the last detail and ready for series production. However, in September 1943, the German army occupied the Agusta factory, forcing production to stop. Fortunately, all the models, drawings and the prototype of the first 98 engine had been hidden a few weeks before in the houses and basements of the most trusted technicians and engineers to protect them from possible looting by the Germans.
The projects and models of the 98 engine remained hidden for several months, until mid-1944, when production resumed. This allowed the first motorcycle to be born the following year, little more than a bicycle, under the MV (Meccanica Verghera) brand: the MV 98. It all began on January 19, 1945, with the founding of Meccanica Verghera Srl in Cascina Costa, a few steps from what is today the Malpensa International Airport.
The Agusta family found themselves unable to build airplanes immediately after the war and decided to channel their passion for speed and technology into building motorcycles. The engine, along with various components of the first MV Agusta motorcycles, was engraved with the word “EMMEVI”, to teach the correct pronunciation of the acronym MV.
In addition, all motorcycles sported a logo made up of the two letters MV (Meccanica Verghera), inside a toothed wheel, which symbolized the company’s dedication to mechanics. This logo was accompanied by wings, apparently deployed by the force of the wind generated by the speed of the motorcycle.
MV Agusta Ottantesimo Collection: 6 commemorative models
To honor this history, MV Agusta presents six commemorative models, all of them produced in a limited series of only 500 unitsrecognizable by the laser engraving on the steering plate or on the tank cover, numbered from 1 to 500, depending on the model. Each motorcycle dedicated to the 80th Anniversary is delivered with its corresponding certificate of authenticity.
The introduction of certification Euro5+ in 2025 (for countries that require it) provided the opportunity to carry out extensive interventions in the engine, chassis and electronics, all aimed at making the special celebration models even more user-friendly, efficient and high performance:
MV Agusta Ottantesimo Collection: 3-cylinder range
The 800 cc, 3-cylinder platform retains the performance of each model, with instantly available torque at low revs and exhilarating power at high revs. This configuration is also characterized by a counter-rotating crankshaft, a feature that improves the motorcycles agility by counteracting the gyroscopic effect of the front wheel. All 3-cylinder models comply with the strictest Euro5+ regulations.
All models incorporate a 6-axis inertial unit that manages four riding modes: Rain, Sport, Race and Customizable (which allows the rider to adjust parameters such as throttle sensitivity, engine torque, engine braking, engine response, the rev limiter and the electronic suspension settings).
The traction control can be adjusted to eight levels: 2 for rain, 3 for Road and 3 for Circuit. The instrumentation consists of a 5.5″ color TFT screen, ideal for interacting with the MV Ride App, which, among other functions, allows users to record and share routes, personalize the motorcycle’s settings directly from their smartphone and activate turn-by-turn navigation.
The electronic package is completed with an ABS with two operating modes (Sport and Race) and a cornering-sensitive function, which offers maximum safety and functionality even with the motorcycle tilted. In Sport mode, ABS is active both front and rear, the cornering function is activated, and the RLM (rear wheel lift mitigation) function is activated. In Race mode, ABS is only active on the front wheel, cornering is disabled and the RLM function is tuned to be less intrusive.
The 3-cylinder range also incorporates Launch Control and Front Lift Control (FLC), which, based on angular velocity, manages the height of the front wheel during wheelies, offering maximum acceleration with safety and precision. All models also include Cruise Control as standard. Special attention has been paid to pilot comfort. The clutch has been improved for ease of use and, combined with the MV Agusta quick shifter, ensures smooth riding.
3 cylinder models, Brutale RR Ottantesimo, F3 RR Ottantesimo and Superveloce S Ottantesimonow feature a new 9-disc torque-assist slipper clutch, with a 50% lighter clutch lever compared to previous versions, while the Dragster RR Ottantesimo maintains the SCS clutch, which allows you to stop while driving and restart without using the clutch.

Celebrating the 80th Anniversary, this model embodies performance, technology and elegance. The Ottantesimo collection pays homage to MV Agusta’s heritage with an iconic color combination: Argento Ago and Rosso Ago, which flows over the aerodynamic carbon fiber fairing in a tribute to the legendary F4 750.
The F3 RR Ottantesimo includes a special kit with an Akrapovič exhaust (increasing total power to 155 hp at 13,250 rpm), a carbon fiber muffler guard, a CNC-machined gas cap and a passenger seat cover .
MV Agusta Superveloce S Ottantesimo
The Superveloce represents elegance and exclusivity. With its neoretro design, it is a true sculpture in motion. The Ottantesimo edition sports a unique color combination: Fire Red and Satin Intense Silver, which highlights its lines and curves. The Alcantara-upholstered seat and new “Millerighe” wheels enhance the luxury experience. The specific kit includes an Arrow exhaust, which increases power to 153 HP, and a cover for the passenger seat.
MV Agusta Ottantesimo Collection: 4-cylinder range
Numerous improvements have been made to the 4-cylinder models of the commemorative version:
- A new ECU has allowed new mappings to be developed, improving throttle sensitivity and ease of control in all conditions.
- The camshafts have been redesigned to increase torque and power at low revs, improving the bike’s already excellent dynamic performance.
Examples of power and torque improvements compared to the Euro5 version:
- 3,500 rpm: +10 Nm and +6 HP
- 5,500 rpm: +20 Nm and +15 HP
- 8,000 rpm: +11 Nm and +12 HP
- 9,500 rpm: +10 Nm and +12 HP
The 1,000 cc inline 4-cylinder engine has been updated to comply with Euro5+ regulations, and offers a maximum power of 201 HP at 13,500 rpm and 116 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. Handcrafted in Varese, it features 16 titanium radial valves, forged titanium connecting rods and cams coated with DLC treatment. The updated engine responds better at low revs, ensuring smoother performance with minimal vibrations.
Both the Brutale 1000 Ottantesimo and the Brutale 1000 RR Ottantesimo feature a new 4-exit exhaust system, developed in collaboration with Arrow, which produces the distinctive MV Agusta sound. The new 10-disc slipper clutch with torque assist is more robust, efficient and easier to handle under tension, reducing the force applied to the clutch lever by 50%.
The ride-by-wire system offers greater throttle sensitivity thanks to an updated control algorithm. It has four driving modes: Rain, Sport, Race, Customizable, which allow the pilot to adjust parameters such as throttle sensitivity, engine torque, engine braking and response.
MV Agusta Brutale 1000 Ottantesimo
The Brutale 1000 has always combined raw power with less rigid and intimidating ergonomics, making it perfect for riders who want to alternate between sporty and relaxed riding styles. The Brutale 1000 Ottantesimo maintains its distinctive aesthetics, with updated aesthetics and completely renewed engine behavior, offering a completely new riding experience. The colors chosen for the Brutale 1000 Ottantesimo are Rosso Ago, Argento Ago and the gold of the Heritage logo.
MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR Ottantesimo
This is a genuine hyper-naked, capable of combining aesthetic refinement, power and adrenaline. It retains its iconic design while offering a completely renewed riding experience, thanks in part to a new pack of Öhlins electronic suspensions. The Brutale 1000 RR Ottantesimo incorporates the Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 suspension which, thanks to a specific algorithm, processes various inputs from the inertial platform.
The engine and ABS control ECU to identify and analyze braking, corner entry, corner apex, acceleration and corner exit, always providing the driver with optimal assistance. Thus, this new model based on different situations analyzes the specific piloting situation instead of adjusting the electronic regulation clicks. The Brutale 1000 RR Ottantesimo is available in Fire Red and Ago Matte Silver, with extensive use of visible carbon fiber for a touch of exclusive aggression.
