It’s been two years since we started hearing news about the Isle of Man TT movie starring Channing Tatum, and in which Brad Pitt is a part, not as an actor but as part of the production company.
The project that involves, among others, the two Hollywood stars, actually has two parts. On the one hand there is the documentary, which was recorded in past editions and, on the other, the film that will begin filming in this year’s edition of the TT.
In it, Channing Tatum will be the protagonist of the production that is inspired by the TT races but which, apparently, will not only be intended for the most passionate fans of road races, but will seek to make this test known to a wider audience.
In a way it will follow the philosophy of “F1, the movie” that starred Pitt himself and in which the action of competition weekends was mixed with plot and fiction. This will allow people to know some details of what, without a doubt, is the most demanding and dangerous speed competition in the world.
The documentary is filmed, now the film itself starring Tatum is missing
Tatum and Pitt’s project, which includes both the film and the documentary already shot, was purchased by Amazon MGM Studios, which is the one who will bring it to reality and, who knows, to movie theaters if it is not released directly on streaming.
In any case, the TT itself is already a great story with its drama, its heroic moments and even certain doses of humor, all rolling at unreal speeds on conventional roads. What it will do is push even further a competition that has already left its most complicated years behind, and that before Tatum and Pitt’s film has returned to its maximum splendor.
According to Paul Phillips, Head of Motorsport at the Department for Enterprise: “The TT has an extraordinary story to tell, and what makes this so authentic is that filming begins at the event itself, capturing the real environment, with the real atmosphere and with the Isle of Man as a backdrop.
The scope of a project like this goes far beyond motorsport. It creates a new opportunity for the Isle of Man and a way to connect the TT, and the place that makes it possible, with entirely new audiences around the world. But just as important, it’s an opportunity to show new audiences what makes this event so incredible.”
