From China comes, once again, a sports car that promises to make serious noise. Its objective is clear: to sneak into a segment historically dominated by Japanese and European references. And, furthermore, stand up to it with a mix of power, technology and a price that, if confirmed, could turn the market upside down.
We talk about the Cyclone RC700a model that has been in the making for years, which we have already told you about on several occasions and which has finally been approved. China is the country where motorcycles come out like hotcakes… and, what’s more, they are getting better and better.
Now the brand Cycloneunder the industrial umbrella of giant Zonsenhas released new images where the motorcycle no longer looks like an experimental project, but rather like a sports car with presence, well-defined lines and clear technical solutions. Its development also coincides with the first units shown at the CIMA Show in China, where key data were revealed, such as the 674 cc displacement with just over 100 hp of power and a declared weight close to 208 kg.
What do we know about the new Cyclone RC700 2026?
In the mechanical section, the engine has a very similar approach to one of the best current engines. We are talking about the tetracylindrical one of the Honda CB650R and CBR650R. In this case, the block receives an increase in stroke to climb to 674 cc, maintaining the architecture of four collectors falling on the right side and clutch and alternator covers similar to those of the Japanese model.
but where Cyclone has decided to differentiate itself thoroughly, it is in the cycle part. That double beam chassis so similar to that of Sling has completely disappeared. In its place appears a more sophisticated mixed structure, with a front tubular framework joined to cast aluminum plates that support the assembly and fix the swingarm axis. It is a frame that is reminiscent of the style of brands such as MV Agusta, and that is committed to achieving greater torsional rigidity as well as a more sporty and elaborate aesthetic.
The evolutions also reach the rear. During its development, the RC700 It appeared with two types of swingarm. One of them was a striking single arm type Pro-Arm which provided a clearly premium air. However, the most recent versions show a conventional double-arm aluminum swingarm, with a large lower reinforcement.
This technical decision has also forced the exhaust to be redesigned. From a discreet lower exit, we have moved to a double elevated lateral exit system located on the right flank. The change not only alters the image of the bike, now much more aggressive, but also improves cooling and facilitates access to key components during maintenance.
Regarding equipment, the Cyclone RC700 registered seems determined to reach the level of what any European motorcyclist demands today. It has a color TFT screen, driving modes, ABS, traction control and possibly electronic throttle. That is to say, a package of electronic aids comparable to that of the most current sports cars and very far from the basic image that for years accompanied a good part of Chinese production.
Obviously, the final key will be the price. Although the figure for Europe is still unknown, there are revealing data.
For example, in the Chinese market, the difference between models Cyclone and Japanese equivalents can exceed 2,000 euros. If this pricing policy is reproduced in the RC700we could be looking at a sports car with a price significantly below that of any Japanese four-cylinder sports car, which would make it a very serious candidate for motorists looking for performance and technology without leaving savings behind.
When it arrives in Spain, if it does so with the right price, it would not be unusual to see it become one of the surprises in the sports segment of the season.
