The Ducati Hypermotard has always been an icon. Not only within the brand, but within the segment of supermotard-style fun-bikes, those types of motorcycles born to unleash adrenaline just by looking at them. Since that prototype that swept the EICMA 2005, the Hypermotard has become synonymous with attitude, aggressiveness and fun. Now, twenty years later, Ducati celebrates that legacy by launching the fourth generation: the new Hypermotard V2 2026, accompanied by the even more exclusive Hypermotard V2 SP.
With a completely reinterpreted aesthetic and a 100% new technical base, this generation becomes the lightest and most powerful ever produced. Ducati has worked to take the Hyper concept to a more modern, more compact and more technological territory, without losing the thuggish essence that has always defined it. Its new V2 engine, its monocoque chassis inspired by Panigale solutions and an electronic package worthy of a superbike place this 2026 Hypermotard V2 at a higher level within the high-performance motorcycle world.
Ducati Hypermotard V2 2026 engine
The heart of the new Hypermotard V2 2026 is the unprecedented 890 cc Ducati V2 twin-cylinder, the lightest ever manufactured by the brand: only 54.4 kg, which represents a reduction of more than 6 kg compared to the previous Testastretta 11°. This weight reduction is key to the hyperactive spirit of the model.
The engine also debuts the variable distribution IVT system, unique in the segment and designed to offer full thrust at any regime. The engine produces 120 HP and 94 Nm, but the most impressive thing is its delivery: 70% of the torque is available from 3,000 rpm, allowing you to exit corners with almost instantaneous force. It stretches above 11,000 rpm, but without losing smoothness or control, which makes it a perfect engine for a motorcycle with a supermoto character.
The shorter gear ratios and greater torque in each gear significantly improve the response compared to the previous 950. Added to this is the new Ducati Quick Shift 2.0, more direct and precise, which allows you to squeeze the mechanics both on the road and on the track.
An important detail: Ducati maintains class-leading maintenance intervals, with valve adjustment every 45,000 km, a surprising figure for such a high-performance engine. In addition, there will be a version suitable for the A2 license, limited to 35 kW.
Chassis, suspensions and brakes of the Ducati Hypermotard V2 2026
The 2026 Hypermotard V2 debuts with a completely new monocoque frame, a rare solution in this segment and inherited from the house’s Superbikes. The engine is integrated as a supporting element and the structure also serves as an airbox, achieving significant weight savings and outstanding rigidity. The tubular steel subframe pays visual homage to the original Hypermotard 1100.
In the standard version we find a fully adjustable Kayaba suspension, with a 46 mm inverted fork and a monoshock with adjustable preload and rebound. Braking is provided by Brembo M4.32 calipers on 320 mm discs, a combination more than enough for sporty road use. The SP version, as we will see later, goes one step further.
The light alloy wheels are fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV in sizes 120/70 and 190/55. Ducati promises a more neutral, precise and less tiring motorcycle than the previous generation. Improved geometry and mass distribution create a safer bike, but just as reactive when riding becomes aggressive.
Technology and equipment of the Ducati Hypermotard V2 2026
This section marks a huge leap compared to the Hypermotard 950. The new Hypermotard V2 2026 incorporates a 6-axis IMU inertial platform, which allows the advanced operation of:
- ABS Cornering (4 levels, with integrated Slide by Brake mode)
- Ducati Traction Control (DTC)
- Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC)
- Engine Brake Control (EBC)
- Ducati Quick Shift 2.0
There are four driving modes: Race, Sport, Road and Wet, adjusting ignition, response, aids and engine braking parameters. Each mode can be fully customized.
The new 5-inch TFT instrument cluster offers three display modes (Road, Road Pro and Track), with automatic day/night switching and outstanding clarity. In Track mode it even shows the intervention level of each system in real time, Panigale style.
The lighting is completely LED, with DRL in the characteristic double “C” shape. The turn signals are dynamic and deactivate on their own.
The Hypermotard V2 2026 is also prepared to integrate Ducati Multimedia System, Turn-by-Turn navigation and other optional modules such as Lap Timer Pro with GPS.
Ducati Hypermotard V2 SP 2026
The Ducati Hypermotard V2 SP 2026 is the most radical, lightest and track-oriented version of the Hyper family. Ducati has designed it for those looking for supersport behavior in a motorcycle with moto geometry, creating an explosive mix.
