Ducati MHR Mille by BCR: Cafe Racer Sportiva

If you consider yourself a true petrolhead, Then you should know by now what a Ducati 1000 MHR Mille represents within the culture of lovers of the Borgo Panigale brand. If not, we will tell you a little more about this very special bike, and why for many fans of the brand it is a real sacrilege to make any kind of modification to it.

Even more so considering that only a few of these were manufactured 1,111 units between 1984 and 1986. In any case, the owner of this MHR Mille model did not give a damn about any of the above, and as they say, “it never rains to everyone’s liking”. This preparation by the American specialist Benjie Flipperboi and his team in BCR It is a faithful reflection of this famous statement.

We have recently learned about this excellent customization thanks to our colleagues at Pipe Burn, who are used to dealing with preparers from all over the world and making their “rolling works of art”. Without a doubt this MHR Mille BCR’s work can be classified in this unique way. You only have to look a little at each detail that surrounds it to realize the level of quality it possesses.

Apparently, the owner of this specimen was very clear when expressing his intentions regarding this project and what it could entail: “Yes, I know its history, but I want something unique. It’s my bike, my money. Fuck the purists.”. Undoubtedly, it refers to his MHR Mille and the possible opinions that could arise from transforming a myth of this caliber.

Furthermore, when the bike arrived at BCR’s facilities it was far from what you would expect from an MHR Mille, which in theory should have been cared for like a child. Benjie comments: “When the bike arrived, it was clear it had seen better days. It was a relic from a 1990s restoration, the paint was faded, the tires were dry and rotted, it was leaking oil, and many original parts had been replaced with cheap aftermarket plastics.”

The bike had not been properly maintained and initially needed a general tune-up. The customisation project was then started, first modifying the subframe to achieve the desired café racer look. Then work was done on the swingarm to integrate a monoshock system into the rear end. Likewise, the relevant changes were made to the front end to be able to equip a state-of-the-art inverted fork.

There is no doubt that the finish of this Ducati 1000 MHR Mille says it all. It mixes green, white and grey with the exclusive finish provided by the carbon fibre. The red and yellow touches on the side monoshock do the rest. It may have offended purists, but its owner now enjoys a true masterpiece where past and present merge to delight the senses.
