The Rider Soul has been one of the protagonists of a weekend of passion for motorcycles in Madrid, celebrating its second edition, focusing on enjoying the motorcycle without rushing, with the route as the protagonist and with that point of uncertainty of not knowing what the next “stopover” is.
The event, held within Madrid
From Friday, where the briefing and the drawing of different gifts took place, it was clear that the event was carefully taken care of and that, therefore, it was going to be a different experience.
The Rider Soul took the participants to ride through the provinces of Madrid, Toledo and Ávila
One of the key elements was, precisely and as it could not be otherwise, the route. The Rider Soul opted for a route between Madrid, Toledo and Ávila that avoided the best-known routes to look for different roads, the kind that surprise those who regularly ride in the area. The approach also added an extra component: the itinerary was not known in advance, neither in the 300 kilometer route nor in the 500 kilometer route.
Each participant received a QR code in their passport that took them to the next checkpoint, thus maintaining the surprise factor throughout the day. A way of forcing, in a way, to focus on the moment, on the road and on what was appearing ahead.
The route did not lack sections known for their attractiveness, such as Las Rozas de Puerto Real or Puerto de Serranillos, but also others less traveled, with landscapes that changed as the route progressed. The arrival in the Gredos area, with temperatures below zero and the presence of snow, ended up giving it that unexpected touch that marked the day.
Gustavo Cuervo’s participation in the definition of the routes and in the previous briefing reinforced that basic idea: understanding the motorcycle from enjoyment, without obsession with rhythm, with maximum safety as a premise and with the route as a central part of the experience.
A day designed beyond the route
Beyond the route, the Rider Soul put the emphasis on everything that surrounds the route itself. Welcome pack, checkpoints, route tracking, photographs during the tour and a closing with a finisher’s diploma were part of an experience created to be enjoyed.
There was also space for meetings between participants, with riders who came from different parts of Spain such as the Canary Islands, Barcelona or Valladolid, among others. The good atmosphere prevailed and many shared the road in groups, some large, although there were also those who did the tour alone, others who were more experts or even those who were venturing into this type of motorcycle tourism challenge for the first time.
The day was completed with integration into Madrid X Moto, which allowed attendees to access the rest of the event’s activities: motorcycle tests, exhibitions, simulators and live music.
Another of the key points of the Rider Soul has been the important support of several reference brands in the motorcycle sector such as GIVI, NG Brakes, SPIDI, Bridgestone, WD-40 or FULBAT, which joined the event with different gifts and raffles, reinforcing an event that continues to find its place from a different proposal.
With this second edition, Rider Soul consolidates a format in which the route is only part of everything that can be enjoyed, opening the door to future editions in which to experience the motorcycle with more calm and a little more intention.
