Julian Farnam, profession by profession and vocation pilot, is the creator of this AK-1 Racer with Ex500 Kawasaki engine that is currently on sale in the famous Facebook Marketplace announcement portal. Already deceased, Farnam spent a good part of his life creating these custom kits to which he implemented different mechanics, including the one that equips this unit, but also others of Yamaha origin.
A good example of his talent is found in the Yamaha RZ350 that he built a few years ago, and from which he detailed the entire development process in his 30 -page thread in Barf (Bay Area Riders Forum), as Bike Bound’s colleagues published in a special article on that specific preparation.
An AK-1 Racer at balance price
Recently, the announcement of one of the AK-1 Racer has been published that at the time built Farnam for own use. Apparently, these chassis kits, side plates and rear tilting, as well as the necessary components to subsequently assemble the desired engine, were sold at the time for just 4,500 euros. A figure that seems to us a gift taking into account the level of finishes and the manufacturing quality of the components.
In this case, the AK-1 Racer for sale mounts a Kawasaki Ninja Ex500 engine of 1991, and also in the final price, another yellow painted frame is included and with documentation belonging to a 1987 Kawasaki, two fuel tanks, several front cards, spare fenders and even another rear tilting. As detailed by the person in charge of the sale:
“This motorcycle and its pieces were part of a fleet of winning racing motorcycles that Julian Farnam (also known as Frame Maker) built and commissioned some time ago. You can find much more information about this and other personalized motorcycles of the master builder on Google. I just wanted Julian Farnam AK1 and get many results.”
Regarding the AK-1 Racer, it is clarified that it includes “A battery that lights the lights.
The motorcycle is on sale in Livermore, California and you can acquire everything that is seen in the photos for only $ 3,000. A truly ridiculous price if we take into account everything that includes the lot, but even more the history behind this project as a result of the biker passion that its creator treasured.
