Every day that passes, Fabio Quartarara shows the great level he has. It is, from afar, the most competitive of all pilots with Yamaha, and the doubts of their talent vanished when he managed to be MotoGP world champion. And when with a less competitive M1, it is being able to sign poles and even lead races.
But in Mugello, Quartararo suffered more than expected and not just for the motorcycle. On a clue where the passage through curve is very important, but the speed more, the Gallic was showing once again its best version since Friday morning, approaching the head posts and battleing the rapid Ducati.
One of the problems that Quartararo with the M1 is that, precisely, in the race he cannot take advantage of that advantage of the passage through the rival motorcycles and then suffers in the acceleration part, losing tenth to tenth. But when he is in training, it is a wounded beast capable of anything.
And in that I was in the practice on Friday, seeking to go directly to the Q2 (something that only the 10 best), when he went to the ground in a clean fall but with an unexpected end. Although it seemed like a soft fall upon gravel, Fabio’s left shoulder came out, something that apparently is not the first time that happens.
Quartararo overcame pain to show his speed
Right there, pulling in the escape and knowing what was happening to him, he asked the doctor to retire it, and after a few moments in which even from the outside we could fear a fracture, Quartararo began to ask the commissioners to leave the motorcycle to come out again. These prevented him and the Frenchman, who was already sanctioned for discussing with the commissioners this year, decided not to stand up and run for the second motorcycle.
The most impressive? That after changing the monkey and receiving a quick review from Dr. Ángel Charte, he went on track and not only faced the pain, but ended up fifth moving directly to that Q2.
Then more checks arrived and was considered suitable for piloting on Saturday, where he got an incredible fourth place on a little more than two tenths of the pole. Unfortunately in the race between the pain and the problems of the M1 to be able to roll in a group, he did not obtain the expected reward, and only achieved two points throughout the weekend.
Of course, it made clear the pasta of which it is made.
